I completely agree with you Steve. I love gaming and have been playing since I was 4 and am now 45. I only buy what i like. I love Mario Odyssey on the switch cause it's just fun. So many people get caught up in getting a complete collection (phoenix) and don't care about the games. The whole point of gaming is to just have fun and enjoy yourself.

idk how pokemon could fix this. have u seen some of the xy era sets lately? primal clash exploded that its not even worth the price tag in general. meme siege is another one. that sets trash. distributors have always been a problem even when i was playing yugioh and getting certain big time sets was horrid for stores to get. always the distributors but then u check tcg player and see one lister with 100 plus of each product. i believe theres some back door crap going on that the pokemon company needs to investigate because this will hurt the health of the card game and people tryin to get cards. flexing rarity will always be a thing but people dont understand that doing that and its happened when i was at a tournament in arizona. people flex high rarity and then in the parking lot get held up at gunpoint. the fact this card board is hitting levels beyond the base set charizard is mind boggling. i like vintage more than modern and honestly ill stick to hunting down the ones i want for my display. but the modern cards are nowhere near worth it. everybody needs everything graded and make that money, its awful. what pokemon could do is print the hell out of the last 2 years of sets in mass and watch the market come to an absolute end. and they will make their money regardless if secondary crashes.

A giant wall of games is years and years of buying things. Like 1 game every two months or so since you were a child. It's never worth going into debt for video games.

Boosters boxes in general are just impossible with this series. Try and collect for any older set in the SV era, let alone a new one with recency hype surrounding it.. The booster boxes are just priced gauged to hell and back. I got back into Pokemon Cards back in like October, and I'd love to get at least one Twilight Masquerade booster box. Simply Impossible without over-paying. I understand it's an older set, but it's not THAT old that where I just punished for missing out THAT quickly.

Hey Steve quick question. Have you ever considered leaving the pokemon card game and hobby? Because to me if you can’t get the cards without paying an arm and leg if we all leave the hobby these resellers won’t make any money

I saw an eevee set, my kids fav, was coming out just before her bday. I thought that was perfect timing. I couldn't get it. With the pull rates and prices, its not for kids anymore. I got the Japanese set. And Im glad I did because its climbing up in price too, with people unable to afford or cant find the product.

Also lets call out the LCS's who are canceling pre-orders then turning around and selling it for $150+ per ETB. There is even a store who is only selling the ETB's opened kinda like GS selling a used game as brand new
@steviefreakinc9 сағат бұрын
Yes I’ve heard about that. They’re selling ETBs cut open so resellers will be deterred from buying there. The gouging of the ETBs is messed up but I can imagine a few of those stores had the distributors change their price and instead of eating the cost, they’re pushing it over to the consumers. Honestly they should have ate the cost but it’s easy to say that when you’re not running a business lol
@nickpapagiorgio22539 сағат бұрын
@steviefreakinc distributors aren't the ones hacking the price it's the stores who are seeing the price spike and don't want to lose out on all that cash

been a fan of pokemon since the original. recently wanted to get back into collecting the cards, decided id rather just collect a booster box from each set because otherwise it gets way to expensive. made a effort to buy a box from each set since Scarlet and violet base set. found a reliable local store for sealed product. annnd surging sparks is the first set i could not get, and everybody is selling them for over 200 bucks (my store usually charges 90-100 bucks at launch for comparison). i cant imagine the people wanting to get all the cards from packs alone. its ridiculous. also why do they release a new set every month! can we get some breathing room pokemon! end rant.

Great video. So glad you finally covered the trading card industry. The sports card market got ruined by resellers, flippers, KZbin influencers. Well now they are jumping ship as they aren’t making the money they were because basically it’s resellers selling to resellers. They are moving onto Pokemon. I really cannot stand Pokerev I doubt he even watched Pokemon growing up. You think the gaming market was bad, trading cards is worst.

I wouldn’t say it’s Milestone or Credit One that’s the problem. Afterall they take people with insanely high risk so naturally they need to charge higher rates. Those higher rates are not people being victimized in any way. They’re simply paying the consequences of not tending to ones credit score and financial discipline.
@davidmetzler667018 сағат бұрын
Wow I’m glad your videos popped up on my recommended before any of these dirt bags did, cause I hadn’t heard of any of these people. Even the guy who offered $40 instead of $20, sorry but F that guy too haha. It was just sinister the way he holds up Zelda Twilight Princess for the camera (worth $216 CDN right now, CIB) just to show what he’s taking from those poor people. I shouldn’t be embarrassed but I’ve got scabies before and yeah you don’t just walk out of the house and go “think I got just it”. These people and their demeanours take all the fun out of something that’s literally created for fun. Older lady did have a great butt though haha 🤭

@davidmetzler667021 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the video, as someone who got into video game collecting and has never sold anything I can relate to your opinions here. This is such a cool culture that gets ruined by a few, which shouldn’t surprise me anywhere money is involved. As I was (half) watching/preparing food in the kitchen as I do, I had 2 little fantasies: 1) I badly wished that the people holding the garage sale would’ve actually known the value of the video game stuff and then laughed at her $30 offer. And then when she said “okay how about $50” or $100, they’d go “no way, you just tried to buy that in bad faith. I’ll sell it for 30% of price charting value and give someone a good deal but it’s not going to be you. Please get off my lawn.” 2) I show up, offer then much more and tell them that they’re getting ripped off by this person. Either way, if the person needed to be that way, fine but don’t tell the internet about it haha that just lacks self-awareness and makes these people respond to criticism like it’s all unwarranted.
