Hi there, I am thinking about buying this plane. Is it well built and well covered? Kind regards.
@baytacoglu Жыл бұрын
Dear easystar123, thank you for the question. I believe this specific plane is one of the best planes on the market in terms of workmanship and materials and Phoenix Models is among the reputable brands within the "cheaper" manufacturing companies. They are not as expensive as the Hangar 9 or Great Planes models. As this is the 0.60 c.i. size, this model has flaps as well, making landings a breeze. If you are looking for a first low wing plane, I say do not hesitate. Every plane especially using nitro based engines wil have wear in the covering in the long run regardless of the price and material used. If you desire it to last longer I recommend an electric setup. I wish you blue skies with your new model.
@easystar123 Жыл бұрын
Many thanks for your reply and good sound advice. I do have the 40 size version of this plane and was just wanting to make comparisons on the build quality. I have an OS 55ax powering it and it flys great. So at the minute I have a brand new ASP 91 fourstroke that has been sitting in its box for over two years and I've been searching hard for a 60 size plane that would accommodate it. When I saw your video it convinced me that the Tiger 60 would be perfect for that engine. I just wanted to get your opinion as you are the owner of the plane and I think I will go ahead now and make the purchase. I did look at one other plane however that I fancied and that was the Seagull models T28 Trojan. I like the way the T28 flys as I have the big Eflite T28 which is all electric. But this plane in my area is very hard to get , but my local hobby shop still has the Phoenix Tiger 60 in stock. Would I be right in saying that landings with this plane are nice and docile? Kind regards, Aidan.
@baytacoglu Жыл бұрын
@@easystar123 Dear Aidan thank you for your comment and question. The plane will definitely fly slow and docile and the landings should be a breeze. What I did for better protection of the wheels and struts and the wings was that I bought extra oleo struts and cut the pins and attached the springed oleo struts for a better suspension. But this plane with the flaps is no problem at all for landings as long as the engine is working. When it comes to a dead stick landing, well that ia hard to tell as it comes to experience, hight, position, wind and etc. But this plane expect it to be like a trainer dead stick. Chances are higher. Trojan is one of the planes I like very much but scale planes become more problematic in dire times. For ground clearence of the propeller I would recommend a three bladed prop. Happy skies.
@easystar123 Жыл бұрын
@@baytacoglu Many thanks for your kind reply. I was making enquiries about the Phoenix Tiger 60 in the local model shop and this particular model is a newer version from the Tiger 60 you have as it doesn't have flaps, just ailerons, but that's not a problem. I have a few low wing planes in my collection and all good flyers. One of my favourites is the Escapade 61 which I fly with an OS 95v fourstroke. I also have the giant Eflite Trojan which is foam electric powered and brilliant to fly, but was told that the Seagull models T28 Trojan flys differently and not as nice. So I've ruled that plane out and looking at the Phoenix Tiger sport 60arf simply because I like the way they fly but also I'm looking for 60 size plane that would suit the brand new ASP 91 fourstroke I've had sitting in a box for two years now and I think the Tiger 60 would be a good match for that engine? That's a brilliant thing you've done with the wheel struts. If I get this plane I will do the same thing as to help cushion the landings. Also, a 14x6 two blade prop is what I use on a 91 fourstroke, so a three blade 13x7 would give more ground clearance and I usually put on larger wheels too. I may order this plane next week. The covering seems to be good and strong also. Kind regards Aidan for all your good help.
@baytacoglu Жыл бұрын
@@easystar123 Aidan, my pleasure. I feel happy if a I was able to help even a bit. 13x7 3 blade would be a great choice I believe. Extra cushioning with spring struts helps protecting the wings. I also added one to the front wheel as well. Flaps are truly not as necessary. You can use flaperon (or for Futaba" airbrake ") if needed so. I Look forward to seeing a video of it soon. Have clear skies. Best wishes.

Do you think the wings really flex that much, or it is just an illusion from the camera? I just picked up one of these that the owner had built and never flew. I’m upgrading the servos and esc to better components, as well as cut a battery opening in the bottom of the cowl. They left that big part out for battery changes!
@baytacoglu Жыл бұрын
Dear Mr. Blake, because the camera is fixed at the top of the rudder and the rudder was not that much active during the flight I believe that the wings were flexing however I cannot be that sure as the camera was a very primitive pen camera so I may say that it can be both. Thank you.🛩

Hello, I have a viper... I haven't flown it yet, and what happened to your viper?
@baytacoglu2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question. I have a Futaba transmitter but the receiver inside the plane was a compatible "Orange" brand receiver. The Orange receivers have two modes for the servos as "analog" and "digital". The servos I had on the plane were analog but the setting of the receiver was unfortunately left to be in "digital" mode which caused jitter in the servos as the plane got away and caused it to turn upside down and crash. It was the maiden flight. Otherwise it took off seamlessly and flew perfectly for a couple of seconds without any need for trimming. Have clear skies with your viper.
