My hope is that within the 4 years from what this made they’ve increased their oversight on the contractors/craftsmanship and materials used. That’s wild amount of leaks for a new build. I’m in N AL looking for a residential garage build I thought they looked like my best option

So sorry to hear this brother! Just pulled up youtube to find some of Summertowns builds and I ran across your video. Im in Lebanon TN looking for a builder. I see you have a video that was in Watertown. Are there any builders in the Lebanon area that you'd recommend?
@aslmx1918 Жыл бұрын
How did Summertown respond? They have many contractors that build these. It may not be a product problem but an install problem. Did they stand behind their building and fix everything? I’m getting a quote on a shop now from them.

I was about to call them to build our barndo, glad I did a little research first. I will look else where. Not coming back to fix obvious problems such as leaks helped me decide not to use them.

Survivor is a mighty strong word to use here. Other then the cab and few odds, this truck is pieced together and restored. A very nice truck but a "survivor" it is not.
@anthony83622 жыл бұрын
That's not a original engine. That engine came in that truck was a Dipper 235 look like the 216. That engine currently in there is a 1954 to 62 235 which is the better motor with more horsepower, but not original

I just bought a barndominium that Dewayne put the roof on. Some of the worst craftsmanship I have ever seen. I'm going to have to pay to have the entire thing replaced. I would NEVER trust anything from Dewayne or STM!!

Update: They are refusing to fix anything, so we are in the process of going to court. They offered $4000, however that will not even cover the materials to fix one thing. Our walls are so out of square our countertops are not flush with the wall nor is our trim. They float you from one person to another and waste your time, and although they admit the problems are there they will not fix them!

Anyone that has ever driven an old Army deuce and a half knows you don't get many creature comforts with them. Seats were hard as a rock after a few hours of driving and don't forget that armstrong steering. But those old WWII era trucks were tough as nails compared to the wimpy stuff coming out of today's factories. They were built to do a job and they did it very well.

I feel for you. We started building in 2019 and we are still not finished with SummerTownMetals. They have cost us so much in interest from having to come back to see the issues, then waiting for them to fix them, and now waiting on them to settle with us because our entire floor is not level at all! We have a house full of problems. Josh Lapp failed to calculate the steepness of the steps in our floor plan. It took 3 tries and they are still not right! They didn’t frame a wall in stairway. They put our floor joist 24in apart instead of 16in. We are about 20ft from the ground in a 20x40 building! So thankful my dad stopped by that day and noticed before they threw the floor over it! At one point they jacked our floor up! Installed wrong doors and swapped them out with a damaged one! Left a mess everywhere! There is so many more things, too much to list! I really hope they made yours right as they are still holding us up! 2 years! Dewayne was the crew leader, Josh drew the blue prints! They are getting sloppy to say the least!

I paid for a new building with a new roof. What I got is a repaired roof that still leaks in several places when it rains and lots of repairs that are suspect to leak in the future. I was never provided with any evidence that faulty screws were to blame for any of this. Also, screws don’t cause poor workmanship.

Who was the contractor that built the garage for you? Summertown has a few different ones, id like to make sure i dont get the one that built yours.
@zackmagnusson85833 жыл бұрын
Dewayne Heatherly of STM Contracting, an Alabama Corporation. Cervando Alarcon was the crew lead. At the time of construction, Mr. Heatherly had 11 crews running simultaneously.

I own the same truck! Korean war survivor, is what I'm told. All original patina and drivetrain. Rumor has it that it was a safety truck in Central California. Then a cattle ranch truck until 1981. Got it running already! Feel free to message me and share ideas.

A very nice survivor in deed , lots to be said to leave the patina and just keep the mechanicals in good shape. Very envious of your heater , seems others are converting to 12 volt to make their life easier for electrical extras , and not found any one making repro 6 volt heaters yet.
@firesly004 жыл бұрын
That's some pretty shitty work... They need to just own up and replace the leaking sheets of metal on the roof instead of just trying to patch everything. Thanks for the info bud cause I'll definitely steer clear of them in the future now. Good Luck
