I wonder if they're unionized or 4:29 have strict studio time and timed out...which is why they couldn't do the 3 bars. who knows. It seems like a reasonable request, but thats the only logical reason i could see them dismissing. or good editing.

I’ve seen Maestro and the pride Bernstein takes in West Side Story’s songs. He talked as if they were all his work. Could anyone forget lyrics like Maria, say it soft and it’s almost like praying or all the lyrics of I Want to Live in America. They are the genius of Steven Sondheim. Bernstein’s narcicism shows in the movie. He conducted a lot of classical music anyone could have. But he abused his wife Felicia by his infidelity with men and women, as if to prove to the public he was bisexual. This was his alone.

È incredibile come un compositore possa dare suono e voce a ciò che è nella sua mente e a farlo in questo modo.

I am not José Carreras and I've never been conducted by Bernstein, but I have been on the receiving end of those cringe WTF are you doing to my music? looks by a conductor/composer. Those scars last forever! lol

It's fascinating that documentary cameras were there to record the creation of this project, as I'm sure the producers of the doc had no idea it was going to turn into a debacle

I doubt the general public will detect the phasing or lack of togetherness in that one bar. Close enough for jazz.

I’ve become obsessed with Bernstein. Perfectionist. So difficult to work with. Brilliant. I worked in a male dominated field of law enforcement from 1990 to 2017. I was a civilian victim advocate and I would never let anybody talk to me the way he does but times have changed they have really changed. His brilliance has gone down in history.❤

As I sing along with the tenor/sopranos, I imagine what a thrill it must be to really be conducted in your performance by the composer, and that composer is Leonard Bernstein. Like no one else. Such excitement must add enormously to your performance. It does to mine!

Imagine! Because the union allows only certain working hours, they had to stop while Carreras was about to get it right. I don’t blame him getting mad. Even Lenny was frustrated.
