Thank you so much for you kind words! I must admit, I do enjoy adding in all kinds of special little details to my artwork. I always feel as though I have my Grandmother Wilma directing all the skills required to be neat, tidy, and professional while creating my artwork. While my Grandmother Elizabeth is the one who comes-up with the ideas, patterns, and material-sourcing (i.e., "what can I make with the materials I have right now?").

Thank you! Since creating this piece for a small local art show in May, I have been creating more painted paper collage work. I put a few pieces on my website. And I agree, failures are nothing to get upset over. I learned a lot about how to create my own hinges while working on the ones that didn't work. So the next time I want to create hinges, I'll be in a much better place to do so.

I'm so glad that you're still here with us, and I'd like to offer huge big thanks to your friend who helped you see that the path you were on was leading you to bad places. I love, love, love the flow state! Even if I do tend to lose time when I'm in it, there's still something very positive and comforting in that feeling for me. On the other hand, I do not like disassociating at all, because for me that feels like I'm not present in my own life, and everything is happening to someone else entirely and I have no part or control in it. It's so interesting to hear how other creatives feel about this all, and how widely our experiences with the same thing can differ.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm here too! I'm endlessly fascinated by how different artists create their work. There are many commonalities, but every single artist is different! I'm a solo creator, in a small home studio space. I love the photos that other artists take of their communally shared creative spaces, because it looks so cool, and I know I would never be able to work like that! I also love the idea of having a studio apart from my living space, but I don't think I could do that either. I need my art and the potential for art creation close at hand. I don't think that being around other artists working would allow me to get totally into the flow somehow. I've worked in studios (art school) that were shared with other people, and sometimes their presense just makes me self-conscious about feeling comfortable about going into a flow state -- much less entering a disasociative state!

As a depressed artist, this resonates really deep with me. When I was unmedicated, I couldn't do very much, besides lay on to couch or in bed and sleep, but now that I've got meds and therapy and help and support, I am able to concentrate on creating, instead of just existing. So hooray for modern psychology for keeping us creative types creating!

@@sjshapir I sometimes wonder what my hands will be like when I get older. At 51my hands do sometime have problems. Carpel tunnel can flair a bit, making my fingers go all tingly.
