I am a single Mom, no family and all of my "friends" gone, I am alone, I tired to find someone to get some respite the government gives me enough funding for 3.5 hours a week, and did hire some people who didnt work out..I had to give up my job. my child barely goes to school, either meltdowns so early pick up's, he gets sick alot in winter season, and our lives are extremely isolated, I have reached out to the "services" but no one can tell me what to do, they say, oh that not easy is it... But no solutions to our situation. I am depressed, I used to be such a positive person, I loved working and was very social. the past 13 years slowly but surely isolation has become unbearable, I cry waking up and cry when going to sleep. last week my child was in alot of pain and I got scared he had something serious going on.. he cannot talk... i called 911 and we got to the hospital as we sat there for hours with dr's trying to figure out what is wrong, I realized,.. no one cares about us.. there was no one to call. I thought to myself stop feeling so bad for yourself. but its reality. I am just settled in my mind and heart that this is what it is. and my life is over but I have to be here for my child as best I can. I got Burned out years ago.. its only the Grace of God I am still going..it is what it is. It just took a long time for me to accept that.

Orion Kelly, an autistic father of two, recommended in one of his youtube videos to use the "Yes, and" method. This is another thing you can try. You basically turn a "no" into a "yes" with conditions. This does help reduce tantrums and meltdowns E.g. "I want a cookie please" "Yes, you can have a cookie after dinner"

Few years ago I was diagnosed with high functioning autism I was masking and was out of commission for days. For me I cannot hold conversation without a clear topic and I can’t do it with more than about 2 people and that takes a lot of work, I miss social clues so my friends have to constantly tell me what’s going on, I struggle to communicate what I need and too often won’t do it in a socially acceptable way (make someone sad about something they did that affected me) and omg sensory is terrible. Like I’m smart but I need a lot of support from friends simce fam domt rlly help anymore

The school system didn't help me with my sad, sad life. They kept putting me through experiments in math and other subjects, made me do so much work that I couldn't remember it or progress, as I needed the basics before I could move on. I was tested over classroom material that I didn't know because I'd been in special ed during that subject. They tried to hold me back twice, but my piece of shit sperm donor wouldn't them. It's all about him and control, to make himself feel better. I will also say that many kids in special ed are abuse victims or in poverty and don't have basic needs met. Who knows why they are slow? My grandchild does good in school accedemically. She just does not talk in school. She talks up a storm at home and at my house. They want a 504 done which the parents have agreed too. Do you have any specific questions or plans for her ? I think speech therapy may help. They tried that a few years ago but she wouldn't talk then either. I'm not sure if she is afraid people would not understand what she said or if she's just that shy. She is not like this at home or when she is with people she knows.
