It would be really great if there had been some narration or captioning or perhaps a pinned comment to explain exactly what this person was doing. Was he switching something on or off? Connecting or disconnecting? What was the thing he removed from the cabinet? More questions than answers.

And why do we have these thing? We have wars to fight for those guys to make money off of, why do we have to deal w/ such dangerous voltages. THE ANSWER IS ALWAYS it's cheaper and they make more money if they don't have to work with it along the way to the final destination. Human Life Means Nothing To These Companies. $$$$ Talks and everything else walks.

Reminds me of when I worked at a Vacuum tube - induction equipment plant. We would place worn out tubes in the Pot sta. and eun up the DCV. The door had an auto ground switch and you would hear a nerve rattling bang every time it was opened. Still, no one ever reached in there to get the tube out without first checking it with a 4' grd stick just incase it wasn't fully discharged. They were crancked uo to just 10 - 15Kv DC. The rebuilt would bw testes to 50Kv DC or the rated "Snap"

I'm diy guy , the red rod is checking voltage and I saw he rechecked it was working after using it with a known working source. I even do that nowadays with mains and 96v DC battery banks. Cool.

Well I would hardly call that switching, in my day switching was not removing the circuit breaker but opening and closing it. I would think he removed it for maintenance.

Remind me of a time i had to install two sprinkler lines in an energized room. I don't know what the fancy, loud units were that seemed to be encased in Faraday cages are called, but they channeled electricity through a 31 floor office building. I did my best to be cautious, had a friendly firefighter who stationed himself out side the room(he was on fire watch duty because of the sprinklers being shutdown) For my own peace of mind, i had a threaded union out side of the room for each line. I did not complete the unions until all of my work inside the room was completed. Yeah, rooms like that tend to be intimidating.

I left school in 1960 and started as an apprentice in the electrical utility business. I've seen the aftermath of arc flash on people and equipment. I moved on to other employment on the 1980s. It's good to see that the ever present danger of arc flash is now being taken seriously.

I like the fact that switch gear is simple to operate. After VCB was switched off/open, the racking out was made easily and withdrawal was simple. After the cable was proved dead, the earthing mechanism was then closed in the earthing position. Great design, no earth trunk required.
