i served 14 years active duty in the Navy Seabees and did 6 deployments. and i Just volunteered for a 12 month civil service tour in Djibouti with public works unit. Deployments are easy i love experiencing new places and cultures and stacking up sea stories. we signed the contract to serve so its part of the deal focus more on the experience than the stories instead of the sacrifice.

The outstations were better than the base itself. The base is just boring, the food was repetitive sometimes gave u diahrea. And Humid as hell. Outside the base it’s a wasteland and almost everyone is homeless the only way I could see someone making it out of Djibouti is being very good at soccer and the flies are terrible

Grew up with June during that period he went to New Life City. Spent a lot of time with them from 2010 to 2013/14. Sad listening to this cause the church definitely wasn’t a cult. It wasn’t the perfect church but no church is. However it definitely was not a cult. Sad to hear Junes view when so many people from NLC cared and loved them. Haven’t talked with June in years, they did family photos for my wife and son when we lived in ABQ. To this day, still some of my favorite photos we’ve ever had taken as a family. But a lot of the stuff he said about the church was a lie and a skewed perspective.
