would hitting the cigar with a few spritzes of a spray bottle accomplish the same thing?

You guys need to state what lizard species represents your look or personality so that your radio viewers can put a TV face to it. The New World cigar that has the most, Cubanesque flavor is Warped La Colmena, IMHO.

Note the written accent. It is pronounced "bo-LEE-var." Not "BO-lee-var." Great cigars.

- [ ] Regarding the drama… I really hope this just happens to be a coincidence. In my eyes the community that you guys have created and share with us in all earnestness, without intentions of moving product certainly warrants an amount of respect on what I now consider to be a newly re-fashioned term “Lounge Lizards.” Maybe not to your average Joe who is not a Podcaster nor listens to Podcasts, but this is from Podcasters to Podcast listeners, so I can see how you would view this as potential shade on their part. There seems to be enough clues no matter how thinly veiled, and when you hear the Cuban disinfo it becomes a bit more obvious what they are doing. Unlike so many others, your show seeks to inform, educate and empower the customer, and is such a pleasant listen that I look forward to every Tuesday evening to take part in. I really hope that you guys can still stay compelled to keep Lounge Lizards up as the sanctuary it is for real connoisseurs of cigars and spirits for a long time, and far away from the egos, greed and big Internet personalities who seek to mindlessly entertain and misled their listeners. See ya’s on the high road, Cheers my friends!

I gave up on Dunbarton after trying the original Sobremesa and Mi Querida. I felt that both of those offerings were missing something that would make the cigars great. may I suggest Warped La Colmena for a Cubanesque NW cigar?

I didn't get the laughs about the Habanos protected denominaton of origin. You never heard about this Intellectual property right concept?
@loungelizardspod
@loungelizardspod 7 ай бұрын
To be specific, we did not laugh about the Habanos Denomination of Origin markings, nor did we even mention them. The denomination of origin is the seal on the top right of each box, verifying that the product you're holding is an authentic Habanos S.A. product. However, we do find the the new aging concept "regulated by the Regulatory Council of the Habanos Protected Appellations of Origin" to be quite comical, as there is no logical way that Tabacuba magically held 10-14 year age tobacco somewhere - in massive quantities - for this 2024 announcement and release. They have been unable to produce sufficient product since COVID (talking prior to price increases and revenue bumps) - but magically, there is a huge amount of 10+ year aged tobacco sitting around? And there will be 15 and 20 year aged 'regulated' releases in the coming years? It's not believable by any stretch of the imagination. - Giz

@razvandesliu3032 7 ай бұрын
@@loungelizardspod I don't know the tobacco stock situation in Cuba, as probably no one outside of Tabacuba does. But at least the mention of ageing is backed up by a Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin Habanos. When I buy a Macallan 12, the fact that the whisky has been matured for at least 12 years in an oak cask does not guarantee me Macallan, but the Scotch Whisky Association. The same goes for a vintage champagne (Le Comité Interprofessionnel du vin de Champagne), cognac, camembert cheese ecc. A protected designation of origin guarantees: 1. the origin of the product; 2. the ingredients; 3. an own production method; 4. a method of maturing/ageing the product. In the world of cigars, only Habanos has a Protected Designation of Origin. For the rest of the cigar-producing countries, you have to take the manufacturer's word for it when he tells you that the cigar has been aged for x years or that it contains x,y and z tobacco leaves.

@@razvandesliu3032there are ways of knowing roughly what the tobacco supply is without being on the inside of Tabacuba. Lots of folks are friendly with the farms that produce tobacco for Habanos SA, who provide reports for crop yields in a given season. With that info you can usually get a pretty good idea of what their supply looks like, even if it's not 100% accurate. Their supply has only been going down, and at the moment it seems prett abysmal. Combo of famine (farmers are growing food instead, can't plant tobacco after that), hurricane damage, lack of gasoline on the island, and worsening soil quality. I also see your point about their regulatory commission, and usually you'd be right, but we have to remember this is Cuba we are talking about. Corruption runs deep in all governments, but Cuba is on a different level. I find it hard to believe they would ever step in and investigate claims regarding a product that would make them more money. They've been shady for decades now, and they have no interest in disproving an "aging" program that would allow them to charge a premium for what might otherwise be regular sticks.

The mold/plume/bloom discussion is definitely an interesting one. The pipe tobacco community discusses this quite a bit as well, but you can definitely tell when pipe tobacco has sugar crystals vs when it has mold.

Cuban Cigars are absolutely investments. It really depends on how you look at it. If you consider an investment, something that you can cash in on. If you were ever in a pinch, you can always sell your Cubans for a profit.

Great show gents. I just got a box of short de punch from Oz. Their taking a cedar nap. I’m gonna have to give the Fritas a go! I apologize for my senator Dick! He hails from a party who’s platform is to diminish individual liberty under their illusion of safety. I don’t know how a B&M in chicago can keep its doors open. If you don’t get car jacked on your way, you get robbed at the register. And I can say that because I’ve experienced both in that utopia. I digress. Time to throw on the hoodie, lace up my redwings and grab the hard hat. Time to get after it. Stay Smokey men!

I get the conflict one might have with purchasing Cubans. It interesting how opinions are shaped. China for example is widely accused of using child labor and modern day slavery. And the U.S. consumer, as a whole, hardly bats an eye. We have multi million dollar athletes taking a knee to the national anthem while their industry is promoting shoes made by slave labor. And people cheer them! We funnel billions into the hands of tyrannical governments across the globe. And much of the population are oblivious participants.
