I'm going to try this tomorrow,I got given a "broke" k40 had to replace the tube , but it does fire up and I'm now trying to align the mirrors🤦🏼‍♀️😭 mirror 1 was not screwed down so I'm having to wing it. This has helped me to try and get n even beam. Thanks.

When I spray a clear coat after engraving, it darkens the slate and the engraving. So I have started spraying on a clear coat (satin) and then do the engraving. The engraved portion is lighter than if it were sprayed after the engraving. This increases the contrast if that is what you want.

I dont want to sound really stupid but what about the other wiring that goes to the K40 controller board. ie my controller board has a plastic metal-coated ribbon cable. I'm guessing it's because this is for an already modified k40 machine and not a stock machine as there seems nowhere to put it? I think the title is misleading if this is the first video you see when trying to upgrade a k40 from stock.

I am still having problems connecting to my Laser even after I changed my Bits pr second to 115200 under my Port Settings in my Properties. We are amateurs to this and need someone to guide us through this start-up process, please .

This tutorial is fab and spot on, makes all the other alignment vids on YT look convoluted and misleading. watched this and nailed my setup first time after failing on other vids. Thank you.

Looks nice Ady, Mines slightly bigger and is built in its own steel frame , will be on show shortly!! you need to wear eye protection with an open rig like that or box it him somehow.... We did Chri's first but re engineered the K40 box and made that a lot deeper and wider so we could fit the frame in, also used super fast bearings on the rails, it makes a massive difference to the speed but it adds weight to the whole unit so it has to be a strong container to hold it otherwise it would jump across the desk. i just need to finish off the X axis which is nearly done, put the tube in its supports, wire it up and then enclose it all in protective perspex and stick the extraction on the bottom. everything else is done but my illness is holding me up. Video was very helpful after four days trying to align my laser I followed Ady instructions and was finally able to get my laser aligned and cutting perfectly.
