Hi Sean! There is actually no good reason why I put the capo on the second fret. To my ears, the piece sounds a little better on my guitar with the capo on the second fret. In general my guitar is tuned down a half step to make playing a bit easier.

Yes, I think I'm pressing my fingers down a little too fast and this is causing this hammer-on like sound. The obvious solution would be to practice this more often. 😄 Maybe I should also check my string action in the upper frets... If you listen carefully, you will also hear other noises (e.g. cracking noises from the guitar). I haven't yet found a way to avoid this when recording with microphones only (and unfortunately my editing skills are not good enough at the moment).

Yes, the guitar is tuned a semitone lower (Eb instead of E, Ab instead of A, etc.). It's only a semitone, but it reduces the string tension tremendously, which makes playing much more comfortable (especially when playing blues with a lot of bendings).
