Pete Weber was always my favorite bowler when I was growing up. I remember being disappointed that he was going to lose and then, the unthinkable happened. Couldn’t believe it

Man, these telecasts bring back so many memories for me. Used to bowl in a junior league on Saturday mornings and when I got home would always watch the pros to try and improve my game. I was 12 in 1987. Was using a Hammer and a Columbia 300 Yellow Dot lol. Always loved Pete Weber, WRW, Parker Bohn and Marshall Holman

Bo's tips...you don't need a ball if you bowl once or twice a year....But I recommend getting a ball that fits you.

Interesting how the PBA went back to the old format back in the house. Arena bowling was such a waste of money.

They posted, saying if Matt's won, he would be the 1st foreign born to win a PBA title, not true, Alvin Lou won at Dick Weber Lanes earlier in the 80's, he was born in China

The commentary from Nelson was legendary. But the comment using the side board was technically incorrect. It is called the Kickback. Randy Pedersen is guilty in using the same term as Nelson.

Stay Stayrook is not only a great great bowler but, he's a true lefty. I've ran into way too many lefties who only know how to play straight up the left ditch and they think they're going to bowl well on every shot or every they go to. BEEP WRONG ANSWER. It gets me sick to my stomach when I run a lefty who does this crap and has an arrogant attitude to go with it. There's an arrogant idiot lefty in LA who I used against on the PBA Western Regional tour name Joe Jimenez who does this sh@* and he got lucky a few times a few years back but now and for the last 10 years he's been struggling like hell. What makes it so bad is he coaches juniors to.🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I don't know if it was well understood back then, but they talk about balls that stop hooking, or "roll out". The fact is that every ball rolls out, it's just a question of when. But that wasn't well understood until around this time, and perhaps a couple years later. During another show, they commented that on the PBA if a player missed a single pin spare, they went on to lose that game over 90% of the time. So Brian LeClair doesn't have far to look for the reason he lost this game. Not often did WRW bowl a game like that in the final, and it was a winnable game for LeClair.

Condition was brutal that week. Lots of OB. Pair to pair was a nightmare also. House is 2 sided. Short side was impossible. Long side was more playable.
