Thank You, I visited the Cerberus in 1970's, Nice to see she is still rusting away quietly, It scared silly those who sailed in her, & Kill some who did, it is another example of England selling us a Failed Prototype ship, as a Bargain ...

@simonengland6448 The "SALE" happen when England was still in Charge here, we didn't have our Government until 1901, Self Governing British colonies apparently did what England wanted. Like How around same time English were helping with Due-Diligence in matters like the LEASE on Hong Kong, they were always so caring about the Future, & the Rights of the Locals ...

Good morning. I am planning a train documentary for a 2024 release and with your permission, I'd like to use your footage of this trip, as well the footage of the 30th Anniversary R707 Restoration triple header. You'll be credited for recording this. The documentary is a sequel to previous works that I worked with others. Thanks for your time, and hope to hear from you.

In the preservation era this is the only time I have seen double-headed J class locos. These two locos are on different railways now, so it can't be repeated.

Judging by what they left behind the citizens of Springvale would be aware that a steam train had passed! You can't get this shot now because a high fence has been put up.

What overseas viewers might not appreciate is that the trains are running on 5'3" (1600mm) gauge track and the tram lines are 4'8 1/2" (1435mm) gauge. And by August 2023 this is now history and there are no other places in Australia where freight trains cross tram lines.
@Kevin-go2dw Жыл бұрын
You will note by this stage the Up track is out of use. The overhead has been removed. Thank you for showing. I will be quiet glad not to be behind a tram while a goods train goes across the crossing again. At times the delay could be over 5 minutes. Even after the booms went up, the tram would then stop on the other side of the crossing just to increase your delay and if you were really lucky, another passenger train or two would once more bring down the booms.

Yes - you can see the station and crossing as it was at the start of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2aylZ16hKqUnNE

SOUTH AFRICAN GARRAT ( 2 ft. Gauge) rebuilt in Victoria to 2ft 6 inches for use on Puffing Billy line. In addition to the Two B-G Garrats ( G class) built in Britain and assembled in Victoria.

Very nice video. I m making a train documentary inspired by the old ones made by Jim Revett and Jim Powe. Events covered in the documentary being Bowral, Thirlmere, Gloucester and the Sydney Harbour Bridge crossing, with the 5917 and R766 Parallel Run planned as the final segment. With your permission, I'd like to use your footage of the triple header, the one with R766 in the lead. You will be credited for permission of use and camera. If you would want payment, I can discuss a price with you via Facebook or Instagram messenger or email. I can give you examples of my documentary. Hope to hear from you as possible.

It has been 60 years now since the last of those Beechie trips. Yet I can remember them so well. The smells of the flowering bushes. The prickles that raked along the sides of the carriages. The long, long slog up from Gellibrand, the headlong rush along the paddocks of the ridge and the kangaroos around Kawaren and Banool. The very tall gaunt skeletons of mountain ash killed in the 1939 bush fires yet still standing. Putting pennies on the tracks to be squashed by the engine. Puffing Billy has its own charm of course but how I wish I could take one more trip through the Otways as it was.

Looks like it would be fun to ride this train!

It is a great ride. Fern gullies, tall trees, hanging out the unglazed train sides. It may be only 24 km of track but it is truly a very special and, dare I say, unique trip.
