If you’re able, could you share the brand or a link to the size you’re using? I am having a hard time finding some. I have tried a few brands that seem to not self level, and leave very noticeable brush strokes underneath the gold leaf. It’s very frustrating 🥲

I'm doing research... If I'm doing a wall and wanting high quality, would you recommend water sizing? Or oil?

@@JustDiscipline I think after you burnish the finished layer the seams pretty much disappear. At least with water gilding 👍kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2bVn4yYfZiAmNk&pp=gAQBiAQB

@@JustDiscipline A lost wax form in basic plaster of paris should do for a decent wall. That's what our local metal smith did for our last kitchen backsplash. Sensible, good people are hard to find. To think we were gonna do some basic gold leaf tiles from some random kiln out of the capital of Israel just because they're well known... so glad we figured it all out. How can you not be thankful for such thoughtful neighbors, right?

What kind of varnish do you apply at the end that works for both the acrylic and the gold leaf? Thank you.

Your content is amazing. I have been searching for iconography resources for weeks, and while I found some gems, what you are creating is unique in the internet, as far as I know.

wow, your work is beautiful. Are you painting with egg tempera?

@issaavedra He is using acrylic paints here. In the video, "Oil Gilding Part 3: CLEANING THE GOLD, HALO, AND INSCRIPTIONS, & EMBELLISHMENTS", he explained that he added pigments to the acrylic paints to make them "very dense and incredibly rich". The information about the paints start at 6:01. I hope that helps. Here is the link to the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnSpg4uFm9ehY7Msi=9D3AmmONnLZr1txY

I loved the singing. Sounds very spiritual and sweet. Second: I wanted to use the gold leaf and this video has helped me out a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. I plan to use gold leafs for a portrait.

You are a good teacher… never heard of the dish soap trick or using bole under the oil gilding. Instead of wax paper, I use Grafix .003 . I may try the bole someday with the acrylic medium…. Always something to learn. Thanks.
