The Cox family did a rendition of this for the “O Brother” movie…. Ended up not used for the movie but I think it was included as an extra in the soundtrack CD.

Good thoughts to remember, though the motivation in sharing Jesus with others should be in love for them.

Absolutely! (As I said; the song is somewhat “loosely” based on the scriptures!) 😉

I love that medley! Have you ever done a medley of one hymn and a contemporary song? I saw How Great is Our God and How Great Thou Art as a medley at a large gathering about 15 years ago and couldn't wait to tell my worship team leader.......
@patmurphy280910 күн бұрын
Hmmmm.... I know I've done at least one of those songs (How Great Thou Art), but thanks for this good suggestion! .. I'll see about combining a hymn with a contemporary song sometime in the near future

Good song. Yes, prone to wander; I think on that every time a Christian friend abandons the faith, or seems to by their lifestyle. Thanks for sharing a bit of your story. Larry Norman; I love the song Why Should the Devil have All the Good Music.......

This song is somewhat familiar. One of the first contemporary Christian music albums I owned was of Pat Boone's daughter Debby, and I learned more about him by reading her book about her life.....great music, and the life stories are reminders about how God works in the midst of all circumstances. Yes, I think I will make a pot of chili.......nice on a cold day

I love that song! And the story reminds me of this video that went viral of this little boy singing this song with his parents. And nice to know this message, or to renew it.

Yes, love that song! Beautiful, and fitting for about to be New Years. And as you named some names of God, it brought more songs to mind......El Shaddai, Jehovah Jireh.....Will those be next on your list? Either way, looking forward to more song times in 2025. Happy New Year

I'm so glad I found this song in your videos. Otherwise I would've said you should do that next Thanksgiving, lol. Great reminders. I was getting that song in my head during a visit with some elderly relatives a few months ago, and we all sang it; well the chorus anyway. It's getting to the time in their lives where we really need to do that, as old age issues are starting to take their toll. And music is often one thing we can enjoy with our elderly when other topics become dicey to talk of and maintain. Anyway, be blessed today

who-hoo you hung out with the Mennonites! My origins are Mennonite, and to this day I call myself a Mennonite Baptist because I'm part of a Baptist church. Yes, Joy to the World! Yes, did you ever watch that episode of Little House on the Prairie where they sang it as they walked into the church after having been re-united as a town.......Beautiful message, and also the Christmas song I teach my students when they first learn the full scales

Yes, brings back memories. I remember that song from the 80s. Interesting stories you tell from the Jesus movement; I was born during that time and only heard of it later
@patmurphy28092 ай бұрын
I was a bit of a Johnny-Come-Lately in it myself. The movie, “Jesus Revolution” with Kelsey Grammer that was out a couple years ago really tells the story well.

Wow, your first video! I love this song. Glad you kept up this channel even after dealing with the health orders in the pandemic. I don't miss those days, but looking back on them brings out more thankfulness for things like, getting to go to church freely, and loud singing from children. Be blessed. And hey, I might one day learn the guitar......

My first memories of this song was in the 80s, maybe later 70s, when I was a kid. Often a solo-song done by the Bible colleges that did their things in the Sunday services. But yes, good message; extra reinforced in The Chosen. Really shows how Jesus' ministry knows no bounds. Thanks for the song

Another of my favorites. And actually it's over 30 years old. I first learned it on a missions trip I went on in 1992. I have so many favorites by Brian Doerksen; there's 2 versions of Hope of the Nations. The original "classic" version is what I call the Easter version, and about 5 years ago he wrote a Christmas version. That's one you can consider for one of the Advent Sundays coming up. And thanks for reading my favorite verses, that nothing can separate me from the love of God
@patmurphy28092 ай бұрын
Amen! .. and I'll check out that Christmas version!

Thanks! What a lovely way to start the day! Yes I have fond memories of this song growing up, and almost forgot about it over my adult years, until this past summer when we sang it at a family funeral. Anyway, happy Sunday too. Looking forward to more songs......and will probably have more requests as time goes on
