Nope, I could never cotton to those those screaming sopranos. Let 'em mouth off to females. I'd want male DI's I could emulate, not women.

Officer's training is rough and tumble. Makes enlisted basic seem like an afternoon picnic. You come out a commissioned officer, ready to roll.

Wow, excellent shout-out advertisement to Trinity & St. X catholic schools, powerhouse football programs from Kentucky. That's where I started out before going Marines enlisted. Trinity Wrestling, Football, Rowing (Crew), Track & Field, Gonzaga House.

I remember feeling like a Superman when I'd developed enough upper body strength to climb the ropes without using my legs. One rope in each hand. Good times.. The brotherhood that you develop when going through boot camp, OCS , and being in the Marines can only be described as life changing. At times it sucks. At times you'll be freezing you @$$ and others you'll be so hot that you'll wanna strip down and continue training in skivvies (underwear to the uninitiated 😁).... The sleep deprivation will be brutal yet you won't be alone because your fellow Marines, recruits, candidates will be right there with you and you'll draw strength from one another. If you are considering joining the military, and I might be biased, give the USMC a good hard look.. Opportunities abound. If you are enlisted, take advantage of tuition assistance and earn your degree. Train your mind and body hard and take advantages of some unique opportunities only available to Marines(embassy duty being one). Note: Every branch will open doors to a wide range of opportunities to enhance your skills.. The Navy offers a nuke program that's second to none.. But I digress, for the enlisted folks, find out which MCI's you can take that are worth actual college credits. Take internet classes when deployed. Take advantage of the litany of chances you'll have to improve yourself professionally. NBC schooling, Six-Sigma training. Learn everything you can about your job and strive to be the best everyday. Kick ass during Monday morning inspections, don't suck up to ANYONE but treat everyone with respect. You don't have to be a 300 PFT'er or an expert marksman BUT you'll stand out and your higher:ups will give you every opportunity that they can to help you succeed not only in the Corps but in life. Knowledge is POWER!!! Gain as much knowledge as you can, get that colleges degree (in something that will actually help in civilian life like Business or Accounting)... If you do that, you can write your ticket. The Corps will pay you big time to stay & the civilian world will pay you even bigger to leave and join their team. Speaking from experience here. I started off as an Aviation Ordnanceman, got my degree, took advantages of the various schools offered and became a Water Treatment Sales Engineer for a company called NALCO...

Underrated comment. It even has a twist in the end.. I though you were gonna say something like "I am a 6 star general in Martian nuke embassy" or something like that but turns out it is even better :p jk aside, you have cracked the code of modern life. Knowledge is the truest power in life. A well versed person is capable of living better life than superman. Lex Luthor 》superman.

I was a Sgt Instructor in Charlie Company 92-94. The curriculum at OCS is insane. We throw a lot of stuff at the candidates and our expectations are of course high. In my experience as an instructor there, I found that the prior enlisted candidates were either really squared away or dirtbags that brought their bad habits with them. I call it like I see it.

This video right here explains the huge difference between Enlisted Marines and Commissioned Marines. Everything has to be more gentle and nuanced for OCS because, heaven forbid Chip and Victoria go without wearing a wrist watch, missing their cell phones & earbuds or miss having weekends OFF for off-base liberty during officer boot camp! (WOW!) The Few, The Pampered, The Officers. You'll notice that it is not the officers who are making these candidates into Marines: it's Enlisted Staff Non-Commissioned Officers who conduct this training. Smart officers in the fleet will always value the advice and guidance of these senior enlisted experts. The finest officers I served with held true to this advice, and most of those were actually "Mustangs", prior enlisted Marines. The ones with elitist superior attitudes do not last long, nor do they have "genuine" loyalty from the Marines they lead. We've all seen the ones who let their commission go to their heads. Enlisted Marines can spot you in an instant. Don't be that one. Conduct yourself correctly and your fellow Marines will happily go thru hell & back right by your side. Good Luck! Semper Fi! (Staff Sergeant, active duty, 1984-1998)

Like boot camp all over with less breaking you down more like a constant test to see if they want you to stay or not. Boot camp THEY WANT YOU TO STAY, but staying is up to you. By stay I mean graduate. Here is more of a "weeding out" process.
