It's funny... When I started with 3D printers, I did it with a super expensive Ultimaker 2e+, in retrospect, I feel I missed out by not starting out with DiY 3D printers, I just didn't know about it at that time. I've only started building 3D printers much later on, as in now when they are cheap and reliable to get. My reasoning is that I'm building purpose built machines, something that I can't really buy, or would cost a lot more (the first one was a giant one I designed to print pieces of furniture). Cost of it all always ends up being more than I planned for, making it not such a good deal. The real "price" though comes from all the time invested into it, I have a weird fixation with always wanting to design something "original", or a need to configure designs others made, it always eats up loads of time, so yeah, it's probably not really worth it in the end. Honestly? I just really like doing it, it's very contra productive, but it's such a joy to actually think it up, design it, build it, and than to see it actually work! So I seem to keep finding reasons why I need a DiY 3D printer...

I think this video has me thinking you're going to be making a number of videos for how to build printers. What I kind if would like to see is a high temp FDM with enclosure. Or perhaps not a smaller one but a bigger printer if you can scale something like a Mk3/mk4 I've been tempted to buy metal parts from JLCPCB for my prusa to upgrade it a bit rather than buy a Mk4 I think I would want to try printing high temp more than have a new printer if I'm being honest. High temp, heated chamber, better bed size idk. I'm subscribed now and optimistic <3

Takk for fin og informative betraktninger. Har du etter at denne videoen ble laget fått oppdatert bilen din med siste software for batteri med indikator for batteriprosent og bedre ladeutnyttelse?
@v4projects

In my opinion this speaker design is quite useless. The driver is only connected to the plastic front, which means it has an increased resonance surface. Thats why it sounds so tinny. A usefull design would be to add concrete to the front, so that the self-resonance of the case gets eliminated. As long as you just glue the front to the case you do not need to fill the back with concrete as there is no real proper connection between front, driver and case. Anyways: I apreciate your try on this.
@v4projects
@v4projects Ай бұрын
Yes, I agree this is useless. Still I think the speaker driver itself is the main limiting factor. Changing the material of the front panel might do something to the sound, but I am not convinced it will work wonders :-)

@zyumbik
@zyumbik Ай бұрын
@@v4projects in the slicer itself you can use “make overhangs printable” setting which should've worked perfectly for this specific case. Also if Fusion refuses to add a chamfer, try lowering the radius a bit, e.g. if you need a 3mm chamfer try 2.8 or something. It would have no negative effect on the print.
@v4projects

I tried lowering the radius, but I couldn't get anything usable out of it. After some time trying different things in Fusion, I just accepted the extra printing time. (Lazy, I know). Energy sound bit better, most likley due to the fact they have bigger driver for that bass sound and smaller ones for highs. 20% infill probably was causing some unwanted resonance, posiibly higher infill like 50% and different pattern like cubic might make it to sound bit better, also most speakers have some sort of "vent" hole and as far i have read about speakers desing it is more complicated then some people think. Like your project and hopefully if you study a bit more sound science behind building speakers next version will sound much better.
@v4projects
@v4projects Ай бұрын
I have a lot of respect for good speaker designers. Tuning a port correctly takes a bit more effort than I put in to this. i didn't have a lot of data about the driver and then a closed cabinet in theory should be the safest choice. I still was a bit surprised that it didn't turn out better than this. Tuning via DSP or adding a sub might have made a big difference. Changing parameters like the number of walls, infill and pattern (as you suggested) could improve things as well, but I felt the starting point was way off. Probably should have spent some more money on good drivers.

@@v4projects there is a saying in my country that Rome wasn't built in 1 day. It's a start of a journey for you with a lot of learning along the way. There will be many trails and errors along the way before you will get to finish line. Wishing you all the best. I just suggested that changing pattern and infill rate can affect sound quality. I'm kinda fresh to 3d printing having one about a year and i still learn about how to design and print my part so they work as I have intended in terms of strength and durability mostly. Trying different materials (mostly pla, pla+, petg) and infill patterns and percentages make big difference. So please keep up the good work and carry on with new versions.

The more solid the walls of the speaker cabinet are, the better. You could pour some concrete maybe or something and get an eq board, so you can get everything dialed in and it will sound as good or better than the energy speakers. But it was a very good video. Good job!
