Yet nothing for truck drivers! They are also required to do a daily walk around check. Typical that the authorities ignore lorry drivers & operators.

I'm a survivor. It was only last month, October 12, 2023. The almost 2 year old bull was on the ground out in the pasture at least thirty feet from me, when he sprung to his hooves in a dead charge aimed precisely at me. Of course I panicked and did the two biggest worst "no-nos"!! I turned my back and began to R U N ! Interestingly, during the next 1 1/2 to 2 seconds, my brain actually analyzed the idea of heading towards the tree that was now behind me. It also was pondering how I would get on the other side of the electrical barbed-wire fence that I was now running towards. Before I completed my third stride, the bull was upon me as he bludgeoned me with a head-butt down to the ground. I'm not sure if I fainted or momentarily blacked-out, but the next thing I became aware of was how close I now was to those charged slicing wires. All I could think of was "Please dear God, don't let him punch me through those." The thought of being sliced, diced and pulverized was too much to fathom. My body's defense mechanism flipped on, triggering the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. My body finally let go with a blood curdling explosion of growling bellows. Then as quickly as all began, to my surprise, after a few more hoof gouges, the bull had halted his life destroying assault on me. Still uncertain of reality, realizing the presence of some shock, I continued roaring those desperate raging forces outward, I managed to get off my back, rolling into a crawl position to stand up, when I saw all the blood raining from my arm. I almost went back into paralyzed shock when I realized that maybe I should get to safety in case the bull decided to come back. Now standing and honing in on my bearings, I observed that I was only two feet from that razor sharp fence. Then like abracadabra, I found myself on the other side, uncertain of how I got there. Though my desperate bellows were not cries for help, but rather expressions of letting go, I was amazed that not one neighbor heard me even while I continued this terrifying mantra of forceful grunts. By the grace of God, I did survive, I am still alive.

Thank you for making these videos. I'm about to start working on a curtainsider. For a long time I never even considered working on something other than container, box, or reefer. You took that fear away from me and converted it into something that I look forward to. Great job!

Remember if you see someone unconscious in a slurry pit or area where there may be slurry do not enter the area even if you are trying to rescue them as you will likely become a victim as well. Instead immediately call 999 and if you can get someone who is properly trained or equipped to handle the situation and safely rescue the person. Then once the person is released from the dangerous environment and it is safe to do so then immediately preform cpr and keep doing so until the victim responds such as by breathing or opening their eyes or until the emergency responders arrive. There have been many slurry incidents like this one when a person was overcome by slurry and when someone witnessed them fall or saw them unconscious they immediately instinctively entered the area or the pit often without proper training and equipment to try to rescue them and tragically all to often they too are overcome by the slurry gas and die as a result. Remember in a emergency especially one with toxic fumes or a lack of oxygen or a confined space emergency before you enter always assess the scene for any hazards and if there are any indications of slurry or you have any doubts on if it is safe immediately leave the area and get someone who is properly trained and equipped to handle the situation. Remember the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

And then the slurry is spread, often in very large quatities (very little controls other than a Farm Plan submitted to local County Council and often unenforced - staff shortages, trusting the farmy to compley etc.), regardless of the impact of these lethal gases on people living nearby or in the vicinity. They cause skin irritation, serious breathing issues ( some rural doctors correlate 60% of respiratory issues in their surgeries with the spreading). and can put huge pressure on people with auto- immune issues. Not just a Farm Issue!

I don’t understand how this even happens. Where is this toxic material stored and how is it possible to work with, without running such high risks?
@Jessie_438
@Jessie_438 Жыл бұрын
Slurry can be stored in underground tanks that are under cattle sheds or open lagoons. The toxic gases are released when the agitation process starts which mixes the solids at the top with the liquid on the bottom and that’s how the gases are released

Does anyone have any advice on using truck mounted straps? Not the pull down and over type the type that are on rails on either side. Do you have to use them diagonally?

you are taking a very easy example. But what are you going to do when you have to top over lashing whit very fragile loading? Or a round load standing loaded? Or when you are loading to the top whit only 5-inch space up to the roof? The example at 3:03 is not good, it gifs a lot of damage to the cargo. It needs corner protectors.
