Υou better change your saw. This is not a saw to deal with green branches. As for the chain saw you better leave this at home.

For additional fire starter use cotton balls, or cotton from aspirin bottles soaked in hand sanitizer then sealed. I am using these in pill bottles but will try some in vacuum packs to see how it works.

i can barely find any batteries to buy where i live, i do have chargers usb power and even solar pannels with usb chargers in it. you can buy the rovivon one that has both if you actually want to have battery power, but i dont see the point. Also letherman is inferior to the victorinox. its too large and not enough functions to be worth it. and its flat bits f up everything. Also if you have a were bit kit inside, and you have almost everything you need! Put in a nextool multitool that has a wrench and knife and scisors and you dont need a lot more. best tools are made in Germany and switzerland! Oh also letherman moved production from the us for most of its products btw.

Why does no one know about or use a sharpensbest tool? They have models that have ferro rods, so besides sharpening you can also throw sparks.

You're closing your leatherman wrong, you may even damage the scissors if you applied force that way. The scissors are supposed to go in in open position, so no part of it will stick out and the tool will close flush. It'll also fit the elastic loop a little better.

I saw a video from MeZillch where he cut the rounded end off of his Pocketwrench II so it was open-ended. This improved the functionality significantly.

If you have access to electricty you can recharge your Nitecore powerbank - the other charger is redundant. A knife? surely there is a blade in your multitool - again its redundant.

Hi great Video Superglue was first developed by scientists at Eastman Kodak to seal wounds -- that's why it does so well @ sticking to your fingers when you try to use it ... So you may want to replace the epoxy with the Super glue and add that to the Med part of your bag

If you are going to include a water kit, sawyer mini rated for 100,000 gallons, it would easily fit in there. Klien electricians shears, see maxlvledc video testing all kinds of edc scissors. I use a Bibury “wave clone” in conjunction with Knipex pliers, the clone uses a standard bit driver, massive advantage over proprietary and weak leatherman bits.

Feet. Looks like some of your items consider travel and meals on the move. I would recommend underwear, socks, foot powder, and maybe chafe powder. Kit looks great. Sanitation is important. Add lightweight layered shelter to that and it would be close to perfect for me, maybe not you I don’t know

Advil/Ibuprofen also comes in tough tubes the size and shape of Chapstick tubes. The tubes will hold many pills, and you can carry a mix of 2 or 3 pills in one tube: ibuprofen, baby aspirin, Benadryl, anti-diarrheal, etc. Those tubes are also good for carrying earplugs. A length of hot glue stick is a compact , handy thing. The Bic can melt the glue. Cell phones die. I think it smart to include one laminated list of important phone numbers (personal, police, fire, sheriff, AAA, wrecker, cab,..., addresses, etc}. I'd seal the leak-prone epoxy glue in a foodsaver bag.

Due to the varied number of replies, I thought I should mention something in additional to what I had posted in previous months. What one Every Day Carries depends on several factors. 1) Where one is located, and where one is traveling to. 2) The skill set of the individual. What I mean is that each of us have certain skills and backgrounds that influence what we bring with us. The more of a Jack of all Trades type of person, equates to more items that we may have to repair, modify, build, and create. A person that is familiar with sewing may have a leather needle, and a nylon thread, an Engineer may have with them a multimeter & jumper cables, an EMT may have a medical field kit. 3) Sometimes we may not be familiar with certain medical kits, but that doesn't mean not to bring certain medical items with you, as chances are if you are indeed injured, although you may not know how to use a torniquet, someone that stops to help you may know how to use it. 4) Some novelty outdoor & EDC gear may look really cool, or fancy, but as with all tools and gears, other than SAKs (Swiss Army Knives) & Leatherman tools, a lot of these novelty items are kind of crappy, and one is better of using a dedicated tool specifically designed for the job. 5) Last, just because you have a piece of gear with you doesn't mean you are good to go. Knowing how to use your gear, and knowing your gear inside and out is the key. Always try out your gear at home and never try it out for the 1st time in an emergency, or out in the wild.

Something light but very useful you could add would be a usb and an otg cable so you can access the usb from your phone. You can have plenty of useful pdf books like how to guides plus wikipedia and entertainment like podcasts, non-fiction books, videos and music. It will also allow you to keep another copy of your Important documents and family pictures. You can share the data with others or simply enjoy it yourself. It could be a big boost in moral and mental health as well as resources.

Why do you have a knife and also a multitool with a knife? Seems redundant. You seem to be very careful about weight otherwise...

Hello listening and read the comments from others. I will consider what you said from all 3 videos. It’s a balancing act with these( weight, bulk, capability and functionality) I get 2 is one rule but I try to have redundancies that cover many areas and situations. Like the water in part one, I have water to start, metal container and filter. In case of fire got water to go. Raining I’ll catch and store it. Filter for other stuff. Take CaRe ❤

Hello listening to what you “cover” here❤. I understand about the shelter elements and navigation choices. Less likely to be bugging out in below freezing temps and more likely to shelter in place. I got some maps but realize that phones may still be useful. Practice and knowing routes in the mind weighs nothing. Enjoying see you point of view

Hello listening to your point of view and reasoning and yes I heard that one word 9 times. ;) yeah I’ve not a fan of those card tools either. Personally I like to put them together, as one tends to know it better overall versus pre made, and can be fine tuned better. Take CaRe

I recommend adding a Victorinox Huntsman. It provides smaller and thinner knife blades than a single blade locking pocket knife, and multiple tools (scissors, flat driver, cap lifter, Phillips driver (the fine flat tip on the can opener), can opener, small wood saw, awl, parcel hook, and cork screw). In addition to opening a corked wine bottle, the cork screw can be used for untying knots, removing staples, scratch marking, and holding a fine flat screwdriver, fine tweezers, and toothpick). It is the main knife I carry because it is so useful. I bought a suspension clip to keep it vertical in my pocket. Also, consider a Mora Companion fixed blade knife. It is inexpensive, light weight, durable, versatile, and proven. Although. not highly useful in an urban environment (except for maybe food prep), it becomes more useful as tree density increases.
@cleverengineering2
@cleverengineering2 Жыл бұрын
Hello there. While the Huntsman is a good tool, and I have SAKs in other places as well as a Leatherman Wave in my EDC pouch, the additional room in this bag allows me to have purpose-built tools (scissors, screwdriver set, saw) that work better for what they're intended for, especially considering the very limited reach and access of the screwdrivers in the Huntsman. The canvas needle can be used for scratch marking, removing staples, and makes a fantastic awl when held with the pliers. I also cover the can and bottle openers as well as tweezers in part 3. I definitely wanted to have more robust, dedicated solutions for things like tools, first aid, food and water because I think they are among the most important things to have in a BoB. I also get the benefits of a fixed blade knife, but for me, I think a high quality, super strong folding blade is a better option, since I can easily put it in my pocket or clip it to my pants instead of the more limited options to carry a fixed blade, many of which also require a sheath. Nothing wrong with your choices, but having dedicated tools that work in more scenarios as well as a knife that has more flexible carry options are why I went in the direction that I did. Have a great day!
