Your exactly right about having to drive these old car's. I have a totally rotisserie restored 65 Galaxie 500 done 20 years ago and the previous owners let it sit and look pretty. Many things needed replaced when i bought it last year. Its a joy to drive and people love seeing it out. Always get stopped by people that like to talk about their experiences back in the day. Btw i never new about the cap holding the straw lol. Thanks for your videos

The last segment pretty much sheds light on one reason auto makers omitted the 100K digit wheel. 90% of cars would go to their grave with that digit still on zero. You know the old saying: They don't make things like they used to? Well, this episode explains one reason for glad they don't make em like they used to!

@@michaelannen4168 What's "meticulously maintained"? Oil changes at 10k miles like the owner's manual says? LMFAO. I own a 2016 GM LS motor. 80k miles. Not only does it not burn "excessive oil", it doesn't burn any oil at all. I check the oil frequently and I've never needed to add a drop. I drove a 1998 Ford Modular for 300k miles and I'd occasionally add a half quart between oil changes. The only issue that motor had was a blown head gasket after 200k miles.
@michaelannen41686 күн бұрын
@@jimbeckert7946 and that's good for you. So that means everyone else is just like you? My friend bought a new 2017 Chevy 4 cyl. for his wife, wth extended warranty, had the dealer do all service on time and at 70k was burning over a guart per 1000 miles. They sealed the drain plug and tested it and said it was normal. He wrote GM several letters to complain and after much hassle GM agreed to split the cost of a new engine at $14k? Something like that. He sold the car to Carmax and won't by another GM.

You Valvoline racing oil with zinc . New oil no longer has zinc in it and flat tappet cams and lifters can fail without the added protection, or get a zinc adative and use the oil of your choice.

That's just a regular run of the mill 454 chevy truck/car engine.. same block you might get in an impala or monte carlo.. truck.. mid 70's smog motor... stump puller.. good torque for the street.. no horsepower till you built them.. that's got oval port iron heads.. exhaust manifolds.. aluminum manifold and a big carb.. wrong manifold at that.. didn't sound like too much of a cam.. bet she doesn't even make 300hp.. closer to two.. i like the car.. but the engine isn't nothing special.. i love a big block.. but not that one.. too heavy anyway.. that car is a good LS swap candidate..

XCH means counter exchange or parts dept sales. There was a bbc L S 7 at Bob Kendall Chevrolet in Clark County in 1971 when they opened that year. It sat there for two years with a price of $1250. The tag said For Off Road Use Only!!! I think that scared a lot of hillbillies off😅. Sorry bout that. It did disappear finally. I was making a buck 25 an hour back then, my 283 in my '57 Chevy was all I cared about at the time. I did have to turn the volume off to watch the rest of this video, can't stand the narrative at all...sorry hillbilly

That crap trans isn't going to handle no 500hp BBC!! ROFL!! Gonna need a built TH350 or TH400 in that thing. If you wanna stay with manual trans, prepare to drop some bucks for one that will handle that kind of torque. It definitely has potential to be a sweet ride! P.S. Learn to set timing! T = Tonawanda 0716 = July, 16th XCH = XCH is the suffix for the over the counter 454 LS7 crate engine. This engine was purchased over the GM parts counter, it started life as a bad ass piece, handle it with loving care! If nobody has changed any parts out of this engine, you have a 12.25:1 compression engine. You will need to run high octane fuel or set your timing way back. Don't cause detonation, it will destroy your engine. 4 bolt main, heavy duty rods, forged piston, steel crank, req port heads. It's badass. With right fuel and timing, should be an easy 600+hp engine. Enjoy! 💪

@up-n-runnin3774 ай бұрын
Thanks for watchin'. No Buick episode 6 yet. However, I have been saving footage of me working on the car. It got put on the back burner for a while, but we have been actively working on it in recent weeks, today it got about 4 hours of sanding done on it. That being said, I most likely will not put out another episode until it goes into final sanding or when it goes into the paint booth, which may be a little while yet. (Sanding videos are not that exciting as I'm sure you will understand.) I'll shoot some footage of it and will include it in another episode that will go live sooner. I'm glad you asked about it.
