I cannot trash Morrissey for comments discussed out of context. His contributions to music history is still too vital & important to be readily dismissed. I really enjoyed your video & look forward to your next work (hopefully 🫰) the globally influential Meat Is Murder album.

I got into goth in the early 80's, (Annie Nightingale request show broadcast just after the new chart rundown on BBC Radio 1 was partly to blame). Mum would steel my records, to play them, LOUD! She introduced me to what she heard in them, the Garage rock and Psychedelia of the late 60's, her teen sounds of choice. She was hearing echo's of them in My cure, Banshees and Bauhaus records.

I remember several years ago I saw a documentary about the Smiths and why they split up, I don’t remember much but one thing that really touched my heart was Johnny Marr saying when he was asked about Morrissey, you must understand that Morrissey is the one person in this world that I can’t have an opinion about.

Its funny how Gorillaz was formed as a band to be fake but created some of the best music. Its even funnier that the music is very cartoony and would be a bit weird if they were by bands with real people but its better music than most stuff out right now.

Why was the relationship they had more pure than a couple-couple relationship?
@Krysiss2 күн бұрын
idk it was something special in my opinion, considering all the factors that made it impossible
@estrellagarciazamora87212 күн бұрын
@Krysiss Pure is not a good word here. I felt you were implying it was so because it was a sexless relationship (apparently). Pure means clean, right? Free of contamination, even virtuous and wholesome. And you used that word twice, so I had to assume you meant "pure", not merely "exceptional" or "special". And, I'm sorry, but that's one of my pet peeves, as I don't believe purity has anything to do with a lack of sex. So I had to ask. A lot of people associate lack of sex with purity, really. A false equivalence. You didn't mean that, but it still feels a little bit random. "Dreadful" I can understand for this relationship, as they wanted different things from the other and it turned into a frustrating partnership. Plus, other factors, like Marr's alcoholism and Morrissey's inability to communicate, probably made the experience dreadful.

@ I think youre overthinking it man, I just meant like beautiful and special and was trying to sound cool lol. Im not against sex
@estrellagarciazamora87212 күн бұрын
@Krysiss I know you're not. Now. You don't have to sound cool all the time, yk. And people overthink these things, yes. I'm sure you do too. You could be accused of overthinking this album's lyrics, but I got nothing against you interpreting and analysing them. I wished you've taken longer even. But, please allow me to do the same with your words. I'm interested and engaged with your video, that's all. And luckily, I can ask questions instead of keeping my assumptions.

I doubt those people “forget the genre’s core values”. They never knew nor do they gaf to know. From what I recall goths and their movement have always been made fun of by outsiders. Nothing has changed other than it seeming more prolific due to the information age.

@JosephKnecht-b5w3 күн бұрын
the most influential and best band of the 80's was Joy Division. by far and with only 2 full albums. they ''invented' 'the dark side of post-punk and many post-punk derivatives and sub-genres sptrouted from them.but yes. works of art are independent from the artist, at least in the long-term.

I can't help that feel when Morrissey sang "I'm so sorry" in Suedehead, it was about the deep shame he felt regarding his hom0sexual urges

as most songs on viva hate are, i’m quite sure that one was about johnny, “On the song's first live performance in Wolverhampton in 1988, Morrissey sang "why did you hang around” (passions just like mine). lol, what are your thoughts on “it was a good lay” then? especially after Morrissey says he meant the *other* lay: a song or narrative poem

Morrissey is great, and I think his views are consistent: England would have been better off in aggregate without immigration, and that includes Irish immigration. Look at the gr00ming and tell me that's a price worth paying for some foreign food.

The Smiths were my favourite band of the time. We didn’t consider The Smiths to be a gay band. Morrissey was celibate. From the ‘I’d rather have a cup of tea than sex' crowd of the time. The effeminate image was very common in the early 80s, it didn’t signify anything sexual. We felt that Morrissey was being deliberately provocative rather than being open about his sexuality.
@danpreston5644 күн бұрын
The album was slammed at the time. The production was awful. Flat, dull, grey. That’s why the Peel Sessions version of songs were put out on Hatful of Hollow.
