I am having surgery in a few days and I’m scared if not achieving full 100% rom. I’m curious to know how you are doing in terms of movement and pain at this point. Are you back at 100% range of motion?

Hey my friend - I'm actually planning on shooting an update video (+9 months later at this current moment) I had those same fears. I don't know your particularly situation or surgery but what I know can be and was helpful for me was.... 1 - rehab at PT and at home - commit to this 2- get / seek the help you need (I hired 2-3 different coaches to finally land on one to help me with my rom/training) - dr Ryan summers of valve health 3 - the shoulder recovery itself in particular was slow and I also trained my mindset - lot of bad days in there don't get me wrong - yet focusing on the small improvements, what I could do, and opening up about what I was really feeling was all very helpful. happy to connect further if you need - via zoom, listen, chat share experiences - just let me know!

@@railroadcrossfit8304I really appreciate your response! My main concern and what would really ease my nerves is to know that a 100% recovery is even possible and not have “recovery be ongoing forever. I’m 24 and worry that this may be a burden my whole life and this thought is really messing me up. I guess I’m just really curious (I understand our cases may not be completely identical) if you have been able to put the surgery and recovery behind you in life after these 9 months or if you are still having to put an active effort to still “recover”? I am really interested in talking further about this if you get a chance.

@railroadcrossfit8304
@railroadcrossfit8304 Ай бұрын
Hey man, I know those feelings all too well! In my experience- now 8 months removed was it worth it? Yes 100% I was in pain everyday for almost 2 years, things I loved doing were always making it worse. The recovery process was not easy - I sought out many professionals, did a lot of internal work, and committed to the rehab - and in the end accepted any change in form as training can always be adaptable. I thought I wouldn’t be able to press overhead or do strict pull-ups again - and they both are regularly in my program, in appropriate doses. I have a hired a great coach (remote) In dr Ryan summers (Valvo health ) to help me through programming, building and being smart and restoring as much ability intelligently as we can. Happy to chat more if you’d like too

Sorry bud. You should not be instructing people how to row, at least not for on water rowing. You are opening your back too early for proper on water technique. This will contribute to an unstable boat. You can get away with these flaws on a rowing machine, but not on the water.

My take away from this episode is one that I am always looking for in other athletes/fitness enthusiasts where I want to find that human factor. That we share to some degree the same struggles, worries, and circumstances where that all contributes to the journey. It helps to make the trip easier to navigate when you know there are others who made it out the other side.

What about rampant ped use in crossfit? Jeez crossfitters use peds like candies and they claim to be natural. I like certain aspects of crossfit but straight face denial about ped use gives me the boiling blood. I am not against ped use as nobody is natty in this world but I am against misleading.

It’s so fun to work out with different people for partner workouts. We all have different strengths and growth areas and it’s fun to strategize to maximize the collective effort and see how well we do. I agree, it’s always a supportive environment and that has helped me become less afraid of reaching out to new people and asking, “Wanna be my partner?”

You can do more Traditional workouts…doing CrossFit without being pregnant is dangerous enough…I’d say you’re taking unnecessary risks continuing through pregnancy. Go watch and Olympic lifter..he/she doesn’t do these highly complex movements at that speed. You’re seeing the popularity die out with CrossFit…the games are a joke, and going downhill every year. Unless you’re competing the risk reward is way out of whack
