Ehhh wouldn't recommend in stock form. This single event I ran with this car told me everything I needed to know. I ended up putting all the time and effort into making my Forester XT into a dedicated autox car. Lower the car on Legacy struts and get some 200 treadwear tires, solid combo that will feel great at an autox.

I tuned it myself. Had to update the ECU to a Legacy ROM that is defined, then went ahead and further defined that ROM to get more control. Tuned the car using ECUFlash and a Tactrix OP2.0. Logged with Romraider Logger. The car is going on a Haltech Elite piggyback currently.

Old SCAG owner and mowing weekly with my 61". Keeping her alive as best I can. Very interested in this project of yours. I will need to replace all wheels this winter as they are too corroded to keep air in the tires and the third wheel just lost threading for the greasing nipple. All in the long life of the SCAG STHM.
@the_machine_lord
@the_machine_lord Жыл бұрын
Unless it's severe corrosion from fertilizer, you can wire wheel and paint the rims then install install inner tubes. You should be able to drill and tap a new hole for a grease zerk then weld the old hole shut. Lots of methods to keep your original parts going.

It's a Yonaka 3in catback meant for a 08-14 WRX sedan and a catless 3in downpipe. Wouldn't recommend it necessarily for daily driving as it drones pretty bad and has house shaking rumble on cold start. Head on over to my instagram @themachinelord to see an outside clip of the car shooting flames.

@the_machine_lord
@the_machine_lord Жыл бұрын
Your Camry probably is faster, this car weighs 3,600lbs with me in it and only makes 130whp at best. Power gain from everything I did was probably only 15hp. The point of all of this was driveability not necessarily power (these cars drive like absoulte shite stock). It may be slow, but it's way more fun as a daily driver than any automatic car out there.

Is it worth a Custom tune to get a snappier throttle response both off the line and part throttle driving around town? Gonna check out a ‘10 XT automatic this week.
@the_machine_lord
@the_machine_lord Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, the stock tune is garbage. I'd really recommend swapping the turbo out to a VF52 before you go get it tuned as the stock TD04 turbo is a bit of a quitter and runs out of air up top (falls to only 6psi by redline!). The VF52 came stock on the 2009-2014 WRX which had the same engine as the 09-13 Forester XT. With a proper tune on 93 it makes a HUGE difference in power from 4,000-6,000 rpm and spools just as well as the TD04. Also it is extremely important that you delete the filters in the banjo fittings that feed the turbo and AVCS!!!

Definitely faster, 0-60 for this run was 8.1s (could have been faster had the traction control not cut power. A NA Forester of this year 0-60s in the 10-11s range. At peak, the XT only gives a 40-50hp boost over the NAs, but the mid range torque gain is insane. This car is now tuned on E85 with a WRX turbo, makes about 260whp and 330ftlbs.

@@the_machine_lord any other supporting mods? i recently bought a VF52, waiting for summer to install and tune.
@the_machine_lord
@the_machine_lord Жыл бұрын
@@happybeer1000 Honestly depends on what your goals are and if you need to be smog legal. If you're going to be running 91-93 octane, I would highly suggest upgrading your intercooler. The stock fuel pump and injectors are plenty to make over 300 at the crank. 3 port boost controller is a must. Silicone turbo inlet is a nice addition since the stock ones like to rip and tear. AOS is recommended but not mandatory. I assume you've already upgraded the throttle body to intercooler coupler to silicone since those things leaked boost off the assembly line. Upgrade the downpipe if you want, but not really req'd for a lil VF52.

the speedo is a little off (reads about 2 mph higher than actual), 55mph happens on the rev limiter in 2nd, a shift to 3rd is required to hit 60mph........so essentially it hits 60 in about 10s flat, but it hits 55 in 8.7ish, the cvt version of this car also does 0-60 in about 9 seconds
