If it goes away when you open the throttle, it’s most likely IACV, clean it up, check it out, wtv you gotta do.
@carstuffPNW27 күн бұрын
@@Mercury3312 it does but it only comes at idle when warmed up, I actually had to replace the iacv (I think) when the idle was too high. when I put a hose on the water pipe on the back of the block (poor man’s stethoscope, lol) and listen to it, the whining noise gets louder so I’m thinking it might be the water pump, it’s less than 20k miles but almost 6 years since I replaced it. I’ve ordered a new timing belt kit so we’ll see!

Was the guy in the fedex truck the other day with the mohawk lol. Was wondering where ya picked up this dope MG from? Let alone a lhd one. I didn't know that they imported or made these in the us.

Awesome! I found it on Craigslist, was inspired by mighty car mods to put a Honda engine into a mini and found the 1100. It quickly snowballed from a motor swap to a body swap. They were sold here from 63 to 67, then they rebadged it as an Austin America from 68 on. My grandpa actually had an Austin America and my step dad’s first car was an 1100. My plan is to go AWD and swap in a k24a2 eventually. Thanks for subscribing!

What is the red connector under the dash called ? And or what is the part number ? Mine is blown and I need to order another or find and pull one but I can’t read the numbers on it.
@carstuffPNW2 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the orange junction connector at 2:27? I don’t know that I ever found the part number, it was a pain to pull out the little connectors so I just removed the wires that needed to be joined and soldered them together

Looks like a fun project....I am in the process of restoring a 1966 MG 1100 and would be very interested in any parts you are not going to be reusing. Looking for a decent gas tank and the rear radius arms, suspension parts and many other bids....Let me know if you are going to get rid of anything. Thanks

Thanks for the comment! The front and rear subframes will be removed in the future at some point and all parts of the hydrolastic suspension and steering rack will be available. I will make sure to take a video of them when they are removed, they are rough but maybe there are some salvageable parts?
@derekporter76512 жыл бұрын
'Crazy!' You said it. You have a rare and original MG 1100 which is eminently restorable and you are going to cut it about just to put a more powerful engine in it. You said it is doable and it's been done before. Why on earth do you want to repeat the exercise on an MG 1100? You could have found an Austin 1100 or a Morris 1100, which are more common, and done the proposed work to one of those. Each to his own but I just don't get it!

Well done in figuring out how to remove the dashboard! Join the 1100 Club as soon as possible and you will have access to a lot of information by connecting with fellow ADO16 owners via email or phone. You are going to need a lot of replacement parts which you should be able to find from spares held by members of the 1100 Club, myself included.

@carstuffPNW2 жыл бұрын
Assuming it’s the same issue, use a multimeter to check the continuity of the wires, if there is continuity, then you want to make sure you get voltage through the wire when you depress the brake pedal, have you checked the bulbs? Do all three lights not work?
@guineomusic3052 жыл бұрын
@@carstuffPNW gotcha. Yes changed bulbs, wiring harness, brake peddle switch checked all my wires all seem fines only issue i see is my horn and stop fuse keeps blowing i traced for a short and cant find anything not sure what it is
@carstuffPNW2 жыл бұрын
Ok, if the fuse is blowing it’s gotta be a short somewhere, check the white/green wire that comes from the under dash fuse box, get a pdf of the service manual and check the horn wiring and taillight wiring. Has it been in a wreck? Maybe a wire got pinched? Did anything change when it started happening like after a mod or something else was installed?
@carstuffPNW2 жыл бұрын
Actually I was checking the wrong manual, disregard the color of the wire I mentioned, lol But do get a service manual, you can usually download them for free if you search for them I do not condone piracy, don’t steal 😂

I leave another comment along the lines of the comment I left previously. Let's see if the censor at KZbin deletes it! A great find and well worth restoring but please do not go down the Honda motor route! This car is rare enough so please try to keep it as original as possible. The front seats are held down by shaped brackets that fit over the front rail of the seats and are bolted to the raised member across the car. The seats just hinge forward to allow passengers to access the rear seat. The brackets come up on eBay (UK site is a good source) so keep a look out for a set if you don't find the original brackets among all the bits and pieces. I will be pleased to help if I can. Whereabouts are you in the States?
