Sometimes freights do sneak in during rush hour if there is room for them in between all the metras and if there are some breaks in between.

where did the first amtrak go to because on canal street ive only seen 2 amtraks when i return on the milwaukee district and the amtraks usually enter through the southern part

There's two tracks that connect the North and South Concourse of Union Station so trains can get to and from the yard

Metra locomotive 215 was former Amtrak F40PH locomotive 258. That locomotive caught fire in 2018.
