Sublime ! La musique de Fauré ne pardonne aucune approximation. Ici c’est techniquement impeccable et d’un sentiment intense.

This quartet is quite typical from the middle of his career; Th SQ is considered as the apex of chamber music genres. This one is also an apex in Britten's music.

Thanks so much for playing Beethoven’s repeat of the first movement development. It puts into perspective the whole piece’s command of time and place.

The 3rd movement is particularly beautifully played, properly agitato from the start.

Thank you for the beautiful performance! I recently fell in love with this quartet and Benjamin Britten's work after hearing a live performance of it in my city. Old ladies next to me were quivering and snorting in their seats, calling this piece "too violent" and "messy", but I was thoroughly enjoying every moment of it, in a trance.

I keep coming back and coming back to listen to and watch this performance. What musicianship! Getting a chance to really focus on the viola for the amount of time it's given in this piece is such a rare treat. Thanks for posting this terrific video, Castalian Quartet members.

A wonderful performance, full of nuance and expressiveness. The camera work is excellent and the sound is so good I don't miss the stereo In the third movement Brahms gives the viola a rare chance to take center stage in a string quartet by muting the other three instruments, and Charlotte Bonneton takes full advantage of the moment with her impassioned and expressive playing.

The opening is especially impressive in that the players seamlessly integrate the eighth- and dotted half-note pulses of the measure. Musicianship of the first order!
