My 1yr old fig has brown spots and leaf drop with webs. I can’t see the bugs. I’ve tried spraying with Neem and dish soap which has mostly stopped the webbing but the leaves continue to turn brown, curl, and drop off

Nice to hear that Figo Preto produces good fruit in the fall! I have one that’s only one foot tall, but maybe in its SECOND summer I will get some fruit. 🤞 My Del San Jaume Gran ripens well in fall, too. Also my Black Mission did pretty well last fall, though nothing was left on it by fall this year. My Brown Turkey’s fruit is generally inedible once it cools off in fall. Anyone else have varieties that ripen fruit well after the arrival of cold fall weather?
@bcfigfarmfruitorchard50792 ай бұрын
@@margaretmarshall3645 when it gets to four to five feet, and you fertilize with Osmocote every spring, you will get hundreds of figs from one tree.

Do you bury/plant the fig trees in their pots when replanting next year or do you plant them directly in the ground? Thanks
@bcfigfarmfruitorchard50792 ай бұрын
@@jimk6862 my fig trees stay in pots. I put them half in the ground with mulch on top. The roots grow through the holes in the containers to give the tree life all summer and fall. Then when the tree goes dormant in the fall, i cut the roots and move my 100 trees into a large heated garage. Its allot of work…

Thank you for this video and also showing that your air layering can stay on thru the Winter in the garage, I wondered whether I should start them now, or wait until Spring? (In Pennsylvania) 45-60°F garage temp is helpful, take outside Spring April 15-May 1 (depending on weather), water 1x month, then fertilize when take outside in Spring. This is good to know, and helpful seeing how to stack them. Do you use any grow lights, or just the natural light from the garage door?

Have you tried Ground Cherries? If you like fruits & berries and haven`t you should try a few plants next year. After they fall from the plant you can enhance the tropical flavor by storing them unrefrigerated for a few days or longer but it`s ok to eat them as soon as they fall.

My first fig tree last year was just called "Brown Turkey." I`m finally getting a few ripe fruits. They`re gigantic, have a lighter colored green/yellow skin with a little bit of purple when ripe, with no hollow interior like the ones I`ve seen on here. I was led to believe these were the worst fig ever but five or six of them would be a decent meal and they`re very sweet and taste like the Celeste figs everybody grows in Louisiana. But it would take 3 or 4 Celeste figs to equal the weight of one of these I think. I`ll check next year. I planted four Celeste this March but none fruited this year. They were extremely tiny and came in a 4 pack. I decided to get these varieties for cold hardiness since central Louisiana has hit zero degrees 2 of the past 3 years and 7 degrees last year. The Brown Turkey survived 7 degrees with tip damage. I got a weather station to monitor real temps in my yard this winter.

😂 Yir no British Columbia. My year long experiment with 100s of Desert King figs may soon be over. They reached 6 ft then grew large leaves under lights starting in May and when I put them outside all the leaves have yellowed and fallen off. My sun gold tomatoes ate 6 ft tall with small greens that were in a $20 greenhouse in spring. Now on 4x4s on mini roller tracks to chase sun. Medjool dates did great from pits. Mangosteen in the mail from china. Tempted to buy puff ball spores. Sunflower microgreens for the Food Banks. I'm a senior. There's no money making in food.

Completely cover the cup and make it air tight. There is no need to "check" on the air layering to make sure the soil remains moist. When completely enclosed (platic wrap/grocery bag) it will stay moist throughout the rooting process.
