Let me give you some advice next time you polish you want to put a mask on.... You should never be inhaling polished materials. And that's your polish job? It should look like a mirror.

I'm very happy that the intake manifold fits on the engine block just fine, but there are a few misc things that have to be delt with to make it all work. I have heard stories from one KZbin channel that the manifold flexes under load and eventually cracks the weld joints on the runners. Hopefully that isn't the case. So we'll see.

Like your work a lot. Just curious however as to how high your ceiling in your garage is to support a lift like you have? Thanks

Yes as I get older, I also appreciate these beautiful places too. I'm thankful that our fore-fathers made legislation to preserve the tranquil beauty. Thanks for watching. Please see Part 2 of our trip. KZbin cut it off prematurely at 55 minutes.

Loving the series, got a 51 f1 project myself. I am wanting to do all the things that you have done, mustang 2 front end, killmat on interior, lED headlamps and more. Ive got a built 351 windsor for mine. Your series has given me a lot of great insight on doing the things that I want. KEEP IT GOING! cant wait to see this thing finished!

I have to get the 34 out of the garage and get it on the road, or just sell it. I haven't been driving it but someone should enjoy it.

I get that feeling of wanting to get at least SOMETHING done on your vehicle, even after a hard day. Kilmat definitely sound deadens the panels so outside noise will penetrate the cabin less. What it won't do, is stop the echo of sound inside the cabin. Need some good open cell foam for sound absorption for that. Love the truck by the way! I'm working on an 86 F-150. One of those mini-rollers really help to make sure the kilmat adheres fully.
@darylvoorhees26293 ай бұрын
Thanks for the advice. I’ll be using closed cell foam for the door panels base with suede cloth and carpet. So that should work to help deaden the sound. Good luck with your F150 project

Have you ever used a pinch weld primer before starting the installation?
@darylvoorhees26292 ай бұрын
No, I don’t have a pinch welder and have never used one but that would be pretty useful. I only have a meg welder and every time I weld it’s like I’m a beginner again. Thank goodness for grinders.

I used a Hot nail (Finishing nail heated with a torch) to pop the hole through the seal. No worry about hitting the edge of the glass with the drill bit.

Still early in my ‘55 Nomad project. My frame is a bit on the rough side but when the body comes off (and it has to to) I’m going install one of those kits that moves the leaf springs directly under the frame rails. I’m also going to ditch the original Chevrolet rear end (which leaks like crazy and has 4:11 gears) for a Ford 9”. This should give me room for a bigger tire.

There's a small amount of risk by not doing the proper fill procedure. There are reports of some Toyotas being underfilled of the ATF fluid from factory so just doing drain and filling what came out is slightly risky. Granted, I think I can only find reports of Tacoma's from Mexico being underfilled from factory, but it could happen with the Avalons too. Likely? No. But possible.
@darylvoorhees26294 ай бұрын
@hothmobile100 Thanks for the heads up on that point. I always like to see exactly how much crank oil is in the engine and how much is the tranny but without having an expensive diagnostic tool or a dip stick in this case, it's the only method that I know of.
@juanmendoza94753 ай бұрын
I agree but may I add that being on a level surface at the right oil temperature and the oil start dribbling at that moment oil level is at the right range taking in consideration you overfill a bit to assure such therefore avoiding underfill or overfill

I change the filter and transmission fluid on my plow trucks be every other year or when they reach 20,000 miles , since I started this practice which is over 10 years now I haven’t had one transmission related issue. Inexpensive way to save a $3500.00 break down with a work truck or daily driver . Thanks for sharing. RR

I run 15 x 8 wheels with 235 60 15 tires on my 1957 convertible with zero rubbing issues and the original rear end. Think they will fit on your 55 chevy as well but when you lift it to install the wheels and tires lift both sides by the frame and not the diff or leaf springs so the axel drops down far enough to mount them. I did NOT have to pull the leaf spring bolts. Also if your 3 fingers are as wide as mine "2 & 1/4" inches the 15 x 8 is only 1 inch wider than the 15 x 7 so you would still have 1 & 1/4 inches of clearance. The 15 x 8 looks a LOT better!

I was fortunate that the hood on my 52 F1 was in pretty decent shape, I’ve owned mine for over fifteen years. Looks like it had quite a bit of frame work updating. Always nice to see old Ford F1 being worked on . I just subscribed to follow along. Shawn RR

The crossmember for the radiator has two sets of holes…forward mount straight six or the back mount flathead v8. Because the LS is physically larger than a flathead you could have planned to forward mount the radiator and pull that engine forward some and up, you might have gotten away with not having to cut the firewall. Easy for me to say though looking at it on my phone, lol.

I don't think those rear shocks are going to do anything. Far as I know once you put shocks at so far of an angle they won't work right.
@darylvoorhees26295 ай бұрын
Yes they might be tilted to much, but the issue I have is clearance at the frame. I'll try them and see how they workout. If they aren't affective I'll change them around to be more vertical. Thanks

Just did that job on a 2014 Avalon. Access to the alternator is much easier if you remove the fan shroud from the radiator. Does require draining the coolant and removing the radiator hoses, but saves some of the headache when running into clearance issues.
