Great work but why such low resolution? 480p? I found it difficult to read some stuff
@BlackMaria61Күн бұрын
Thanks for your feedback , I actually upload them at 720 , I'll see if there's a better quality upload option . Sometime the frames are a bit small or go too fast, I have to make compromises sometimes so that the pacing isn't to slow, you may have to pause to read it sometimes, plus I find these are best downloaded and watched as a file on a proper TV so you can see the dialogue easier .

@@BlackMaria61 hello!! Thank you for your kind reply. I wasn't criticising your work, which is simply splendid, it's just such a shame the resolution is so low. I have no issue with pausing the video to read a lot of text, it's just that the text is quite blurry on some examples. I only watched 5 min of it because of this and I'd like to enjoy it all. Great work!!!

How come these don't have voice acting anymore? I mean these are still good, but I'm just curious.
@BlackMaria618 күн бұрын
There's a couple of reasons. For Dan Dare & the Stingray one I had existing audio adaptions that I could use. For the early ones I was able to get a cast together and do my own voice recordings, but the complexity of organising this meant I could only do a couple a year, if that. When Covid came in I started doing these as an activity to keep myself occupied and as I couldn't get people together I started doing them with subtitles , and it didn't take long to realise I might as well use the original comic speech bubbles, with a backing of sound fx & music. These got a good reaction and meant I could produce an animation much more quickly, plus when you are adapting an existing TV show you need performers who can do an acceptable imitation of the characters or else it doesn't work, but with subtitles you can imagine the original actor saying the dialogue. Also two of my regular cast tragically passed away so I couldn't really do the voiceovers at this even if I wanted too , so decided to stick with the silent method . I do have an upcoming project where I can use a pre existing radio play, I should begin that in a few weeks

He must have thought it was a secret weapon display lol. Actually many museums did have strict anti photography rules back in the day, i'm not sure why really, just means there's very few memories of them now as most have been superceded or reorganised their displays

Nice work! However, the six newspaper strips have titles: 1. Revenge 2. A Vision of Isis 3. The Werewolf 4. Mr. Sinestra 5. Desiree Kapora 6. Phantom Fire
@BlackMaria6127 күн бұрын
Well that's good to know, but they didn't appear on the strips themselves so had to make up suitable titles myself , also the official ones can be a bit generic, plus I had to leave out the I word as that gets picked up on fbook due to the terrorist group

Ah, the old Dark Shadows newspaper comic strip! Many years ago they were collected in one large paperback book, and I have that. I actually MUCH prefer the strip to the comic book. The artwork in the comic book was never very good. Thankyou so much for doing these!

Very good indeed. Love the way the soundtrack meshes with the panels. Disappointing ending to the comic story, though. Straker could've found a better way to prevent General Calper from being killed by the alien spacecraft. 😥
@BlackMaria61Ай бұрын
Though the hard ending is in keeping with the show. I think it's remarkable that considering the production conditions of the comic the editor/writer kept coming up with good stories in keeping with the show for both this and the Dr Who strip, which often is not the case with comic book spinoffs

Great work. Although I found the moving lips bit a bit disturbing. Sorry.
@BlackMaria61Ай бұрын
Davros & Robin, I have moving lips to help clarify who's talking (works better when its dubbed rather than using dialogue balloons) and also because this is an animation rather than a slideshow of a comic. I must confess sometimes they work better than others ....
