I remember that black bug @ 2.26 when it was featured in Hot VW magazine back in the late 80s. If I remember correctly, it ran a 1776 motor and Rajay turbo. Infact I based my own 63 off this car, same wheels, de-chromed, stance etc. The only real difference was I decided to go with a deep metallic purple paint job instead of the black. Anyone know if that bug is still around today?. Maybe someone from one of the Hawaiian clubs could let us know? Any info would be much appreciated.

second pic montage I watched of you guys. I recommend some video you guys rock some unique rides. one thing I noted was the names slashed across the front of the manx style bugs super unique looking to me it must be a Islander thing I dig it. I was also curious it looks like most of you guys have street Bugs I guess there is not a lot of off road places over there. In so cal the fiberglass bugs are mostly all about off road there are not set up much different then most of the one I saw on the montage but there are super capable have you guys ever done off road stuff with them? That is not to say that the street bugs are not pretty common over here.

I run one in the deserts of California on the street and the hills. Mine is not much different then these ones. thanks for sharing are you part of a club?

I was stationed at NAS Barbers Point from 83-86. Being from the Midwest I liked muscle cars. After seeing what could be done with a VW I got a new respect for them. Loved them ever since. Owned a 69 for a few years. Would love to get a late 60's Karmann Ghia to hot rod and blow peoples minds here in Michigan. Thanks for posting this vid! Mahalo and Aloha!
