born and grew up in scarborough...then lived in birmingham, uk for half a year, now i'm back in ontario living in mississauga. scarborough, though it can be unsafe in certain areas in certain times, it truly does have a special place in my heart...the sense of community and vibrant mix of cultures..it truly is a misunderstood, underrated place full of life and camoflauged potential

I was raised in apartment 508 3847 Lawrence Ave East from age 4 to 10 with my mother. Went to willow park elementary. Principal name was Mr. Snow. Summers was the best all the elders by the court playing loody doing their thing. Legendary block. Respect for making this!

The Scarborough of the past is gone and has been taken over by Indians. Its crazy how fast it was over run, its all you see now. Are country is suppose to be diversity and yet we seem to be just becoming Indian.

Would you say the same about the Susan area, back in the early 90s and 2000s and before then too? Hypocritical, watch the racism. Immigration happens all the time especially as times move on and new wars and poverty around the world compel people to move. Thats why people from certain countries immigrate more during certain time periods in history. First it was the Scottish and Irish, then Chinese and Korean, Caribbean and African, and now south asians. They saw Scarborough as a place they can call home, we'll accept them and move forward together uplifting each other taking advantage of each other's skills and what we bring to the table. This mindset of "indians taking over" isn't helping anybody when everyone just wants safety and to work in the community.

Canada is a great country and Scarborough is an amazing place where people have come from other countries and were given the opportunity to have a life that they wouldn’t have in their home country.

All while native americans/ canadians have no say on who enters and occupies this land smh white Anglo colonialists took it over and instead re paying for his foul deeds he brings immigrants over in droves of Desi Indians and south Asian in general sprinkled with a few west and east africans and carribeans and some how that's a good thing I mean carribean people do have native blood so do hispanics so technically this is there land as for the others makes no sense give the natives back there white man back to euroupe Indians to asia etc immigration along with the Canadian government in the new colonization

3847 Apt 315 my home from roughly '77-80, rough times -- I sure relate to the guy saying as the oldest kid with no dad in the house and trying to help look after things but I was like 9 -- grade 2-5 at Willow Park. What pleases me most about this film is the positive sense of neighbourhood and community that seems to exist today. In my day it was a place to dream of escaping from, but now there are many positive aspects of living there. Love the mural, love the backyard festival/party, --- makes me actually want to go back and visit...

I grew up in a part of Scarborough where it was rarer to see a kid from a non-immigrant family than the other way around. Kingston and Cliffside...in some ways it was a quiet place, in others...I remember when I was in nursing school I got placed at a "high needs" elementary school in what I was assured was a "low socioeconomic neighborhood" where I could see and work against the social determinants of health we'd all just been educated on...imagine my surprise when this was the shortest commute to a placement NY entire nursing school career. In fact, this school was less than a five minute walk from my high school Talk about surreal. I now work as a nurse in children's crisis mental health, near the Jane and Finch area. Watching this brought up a lot of memories and feelings for me
