Hey bro you were in one of the hot places no advisable to be there alone, without any acquaintance. You were at the begginning by the neighborhood called El Chorrillo calle 25, near the Headquarter of General Noriega, Barraza, Plaza Amador where was born Romel Fernandez, a death soccer player very famous in the 90's for the island Tenerife. Hopefully you made out well from this place. Really its not safe walk around there. But that's why some people say tourists have no risk in Panama, other scum guys devoted to live in the border of the society have no second thoughts,they just go and take whatever you have.So please you and all foreigners beware whatever you are, because we are living times of changing in humanity, not just here all over the world.

One thing I dislike about Panama is this insane gap, where you have thousand dollar per night hotels, but walk three blocks away and you have people living in broken houses with no toilet, some areas Ive seen driving around Panama, really look like ww3 just hit them.

I think the fact you were on a bike helped, walking around may have been a different story. I've only been through there by taxi. Pretty much everyone in Panama advises you not to go there, but it didn't look as bad as expected. People told me the same about Santa Ana and San Miguelito. I went to both those in the day time and walked around a few blocks without problems, but they were run down and especially in San Miguelito I saw a few people staring at me, so I didn't hang around for long and headed back to the metro. Wouldn't be keen on walking around those districts at night.
