Happy to see youngsters getting a shot at the throttle and helm. I too started at a very young age. Blessed by the experience. It wasn't long before I kicked my father out of the engine room completely!

Had a friend, John York, do that with his 30ft steel former steamboat "Ben My Chree"... I was 13years old and holding on to the lines not expecting that at all... Dragged kicking and screaming down the slipway hahaha

Very good. About the age I started, five years later I was taking the boat out on my own....

Its how we do it on EmilyAnne as well, maybe twice a year, than in between we use a steam lance to get the worst of at a frequency of about once a day. That's for a total of around 20 firings at around 10 hours a piece average.
