Pour enough antifreeze in all three openings to run out of motor, reinstall thermostat hose, 2 plugs and large hoses top clamp. Spray motor with corrosion x, spray upholstery with mold cleaner marine product, battery tender on battery. Long Island NY since 1998 and never a problem. The fears of a cracked block or outdrive are to make money for the industry. Ive changed all my bellows, ujoints, gimble bearing, shift cable, impeller, rebuilt and changed carbs, starter, zincs, etc., I know what im doing. I dont change the gear oil in the outdrive unless i need to. Use common sense. The marine industry is a racket rife with thieves a plenty.

Question. I understand, pouring antifreeze into the engine and removing water, but why do you need to leave the antifreeze in after you’ve verified pink anti freeze coming out the drains could you not just drain the whole thing then there is no chance of the antifreeze failing?

I could have sworn in a Mercruiser service manual I was reading said models with five blue plugs remove plugs make sure all water drains leave plugs removed till ready to put boat back in service. I can’t locate it right now but almost positive I read about that process in some Mercruiser literature. Please no one try this until confirmed. Thanks

I'm brand new to the marine life so I have a question please(which may seem ridiculous to you): I poured the anti freeze into the hoses as directed but I had the boat radio going and didn't hear/realize that the anti freeze was running out of the bottom end of the motor. Is this normal? If yes, how much do I pour in and do I pour into all 4 hoses? Thanks again dude, really awesome of you to help us schlebs out. God bless ya. G

Ok here’s the stuff I’ve used since 2011 from Walmart SuperTech RV and Marine antifreeze pink stock number 145005 -50 burst protection. It clearly says “provides corrosion protection “ I have never had an issue and everyone in my area uses the same stuff. I’ll be using it again this winter still running my boat best time to boat everyone put their wake boats up.

all of the wood should have been sealed and encapsulated with a penetrating epoxy, top and bottom, including edges before installation into the boat. it will quickly absorb moisture and rot.
