I've just noticed the comment about taking digital cameras with us to the banks and shores and worked it out as they went along. Most of this film was actually shot using a bog standard Sony 8mm camcorder, so quite a few years before digital was even thought of. With the funds that we raised selling VHS videos and then the rights to Kevin, we bought a Sony V800E Hi8 camcorder ... that same one that we took to film on Lake Nasser with you in 1995. Was that really 30 years ago?

Speed written descrip.. now corrected. :-) Showing our age! Indeed 30 years ffs..well, 28 in real time but never let the truth get in the way of a good story.. Tight lines Steve.. Liam

Thanks again Dale for a fantastic piece of history, I appreciate all your productions and it's very enjoyable to watch these as an adult. I remember renting some of the Kevin Maddocks films from the tackle shop as a kid me and my mates would race from the tackle shop on bikes to get home and watch them and in my circle of friends they were more valuable than a porno 😂

Pure carp gold, great humour and old school banter I wish carp fishing was still like this today. Drying bait out in vac bags 😂 what an amazing time and place to be around carp fishing. "You won't look stupid if you take the green beads off" was as dry as the baits in vac bags!

Let's just leave it a few seconds longer, because I'm getting paid to sell fishing tackle, if it is deep hooked, we can cut that bit out, chuck it back half dead, and I still look like an expert ( to a novice looking to buy some fishing tackle) Don't buy anything from pike pro??!!! It's crap.

the only thing making the joker move in that fashion is the sodium in the groundbait its burning and killing the joker . why would anyone add a alien to a natural bait .

I remember watching this on VHS as a 10 year old. Used to read everything Alan Yates wrote at Sea Angler. That anorak was so cool and i remember asking for one for Christmas. Interesting to see some significant developments in Sea Angling since 88? but still now with tapered leader, conti rods and grips not stolen from our tennis rackets the water craft standards are still to be followed. Thanks @cleanriverfishing for this trip down memory lane , Still learning from the Alan in 2024

I don't know why Andy had to lie and mislead people with his captures and weights, he was good enough he didn't need to lie, was such a shame. Thanks for posting btw Liam, I had loads of Clean River fishing videos back in the good ol daze!

He also lied to me as a director about stupid personal stuff.. like wife having cancer.. and his grandmother must have died at least four times. It was enough to make me not only make the decision to stop working with him, but I sold all the content I'd made with him to Hinders. I only own THIS title because it was made for Clean River before I took it over. Wasted. He was a good angler.. even if he looks like a carp on film..
