I was so exited until you said i can't use it every day for off Grid purposes in my motorhome 🤷 why not?
@KelvinPowerTools
@KelvinPowerTools 11 ай бұрын
Hello. The generator is designed for leisure use, so it's not suitable for continuous daily use or for use as a power supply for off-grid houses. Leisure use means that it's suitable for leisure activities where you require a power source for small appliances, e.g. charging your phone when camping or powering your TV when caravanning. If you're going to be living off-grid in your motorhome and using it continuously every day, then it's not suitable for this. You'll need a more powerful generator that's designed for off-grid living.

It won't last long when working in such a regime. Get solar panels with a decent power station, and the generator could be backup for periods of bad weather during winter, so it wouldn't work all the time.

Would this be okay for operating tools like a circular saw or portable table saw at my allotment?
@KelvinPowerTools
@KelvinPowerTools 9 ай бұрын
@@peterc2248 Hi Peter. The generator has 1600W continuous output, so as long as the tool's wattage is under this then it should be okay. You'll need to be careful with the tool's start-up load though, as the generator has 2000W max. output, so the tool's start-up load can't exceed this. We wouldn't recommend using a table saw, as they have a high start-up load.

Hi Gordon, great review as always. My own situation is as an Irish tradesman working on irish sites I have to by law use 110v power tools. If I purchased this battery power station and swapped out my 110v tools for 240v tools could I legally use them 240v tools on site using this power station? I realise I could still power my 110v tools with this power station but I'd still need to lug a transformer around and I'd prefer the extra power of 240v tools, Or am I better of simply switching my 110v tools for cordless tools?
@KelvinPowerTools
@KelvinPowerTools Жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. Legally you need to use 110V tools on site, so you'd need to use a transformer with the Power Station. Cordless tools are more popular than corded tools now. The main difference between them is the power cable. If you work on site a lot then cordless tools are more convenient as you don't need a mains power source to use them.

@KelvinPowerTools

Hi Scott all 6 batteries charges one at a time to 80%, once all 6 batteries are charged to 80% then each one proceeds to charge to 100%. Its stops at 80% as it takes longer to charge the Bosch 18V battery cells that last 20%. For example, a Bosch 5Ah will take only 28mins to charge to 80% then takes a further 19 mins to complete the last 20%. Its the way their fast charging technology works for their batteries. The 80% feature is a get out of jail for users that have completely ran out of charge and want to start using their Bosch 18V tools quickly. Its difficult to summarise this in a 15 second video, thanks for your comment, hope this helped. Kelvin Power Tools 🤙

The fact that Festool bought this technology patent and then only provide it on their expensive, professional grade saws is truly disgusting. I understand it must have a cost of its own and that a SawStop saw can't ever be truly competitive with a saw that doesn't have it, but surely prosumer/hobbyist-grade saws are even more in need of this type of protection? Safety before profits. Like the seatbelt, this is one technology that should never have been retained for profit

Hello. Festool advise that it should last for a full working day, but it really depends on what machine you're powering and the application. E.g. It can continuously power the Syslite Duo work light for over 16 hours, however if you're powering a mitre saw to continuously cut thick timber then the runtime won't be as long. Hi James. I asked our Festool rep to confirm and he replied the following: "When we did studies in Europe, we found that the tradesmen only used half the power for their working day, so we actually think they will get 1400 charges of the Power Station. 700 charges equates to around three and a half years, so 1400 charges equates to double that. On an 18V battery the average number of charges is 400."

He's wrong. Totally wrong. Very common that site guys (and nearly all trades) believe this. Honestly, it's not worth the argument. I've tried to explain to sites why they've got their facts wrong on 110v and 230v. Nobody is prepared to risk it. Even had a site manager agree with me that I was correct and 230v is allowed (under the correct set up), but still wouldn't allow it. HSE laws *do not* ban 230v. HSE advise 110v are "preferable". Do they even know how and why 110v is considered "safer"? Not in my experience (centre tap is 55v, just below level of being able to shock). p.s. Have you really got one of these?

@@RiotDarkside Everything to do with HSE buddy. Insurers think their following HSE rules. Have you seen a copy of their insurance policy? Or you just think that's what the situation must be? My experience is that facts say no legal reason to stop 230v on-site. It's the site manager who hasn't got a clue and tells people like you "it's the insurance". Show me a copy of the insurance terms. Ask them how they run 230v to the 110v. Must be using a lead. My experience also tells me that you haven't got a Festool SysPower. Have you? Go on pal. 3,680 watts? Festool website says 2,990watts. Run time for 3,000 watts of tools is around 30 mins max. Or 1hour run time maximum for 1,500 watts worth of tools. Give it a bit of use and these numbers will drop. The 11,000 watt claim isn't relevant. £3,000? I can and will make something better for a £1,000 maximum. Sorry Festool. Festool, why have you made a 230v system that you won’t be able to use on a UK construction site, the uk will only allow 110v. Ok I’m sure you can plug a 110v transformer but as this isn’t a portable appliance and is a power source delivering 230v you would need a 3 monthly thorough examination, will this need to be done by competent person, how will this affect the warranty.

Great Kev, Why won't the bolt in my gun retract after firing ? any ideas. Cheers.
@KelvinPowerTools
@KelvinPowerTools 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary. This could be due to a number of reasons: - The 2 return springs on the guides could be worn or broken. When you take these off, they should be equal lengths when they're laid out together and have no broken spirals or kinks. - The 'bolt' or driver blade should be inspected for signs of grooves where the motor runs on it. This can cause slipping and leave the driver blade out or not returning. - Other than that, all parts should be checked for wear and tear as it’s a dry mechanical gearbox and parts do wear out. If you'd like our workshop to take a look at it then you can book a free UK collection here: www.kelvinpowertools.com/paslode-repairs-t-59

Easy to work out. This box has maximum of 1,500 watt/hours. That's 1.5kWH Let's say you've got a Tesla with a 75kWh. You'd, in theory, get a charge of 2%. 75kWh gives a range of say 230 miles. So in theory you'd get 4.6 miles. But in real life you'd be lucky to 4 miles and you'd wait 30 mins to empty your Festool into the Tesla. If you wanted 50 miles on a Tesla you'd need around 12 Festool Sys Powers and that would cost you £36,000.
