BTW: If you are wondering who the "Princess" was; it was no one. The title simply popped into Ravel's head after he wrote it, and that was that. lol

Everyone knows that Richard shelved this lp as soon as he heard it. What I would like to know is ….why? She was trying to get out from underneath her family’s smothering control. My opinion, this is not her best work; however, it’s pretty good for a first try, and I can only imagine how phenomenal she would have been as a solo if she had lived. I’m so thankful for the Carpenters ,the best discography in existence. Karen was born with the most beautiful voice and an unexplained natural ability to use it.

This is cool and it is enlightening to see this side of her talents but I disagree with everyone who is knocking on Richard Carpenter; I think he had a great instinct for what material Karen was best suited for. Though their brother\sister dynamic might have appeared limiting compared to her solo work its part of the reason why they (and Karen in particular) attained legendary status. I think the best track on display here is "I Do It For Your Love." She managed to remove the melancholy from Paul Simon's song and show it in a different light. I got the sense the relationship she portrayed would endure through hardship while the original version is a picture of a union doomed to failure. THAT to me is the genius of Karen Carpenter's voice.

Man, these tracks just prove how much of a raw/pure talent she had!!! These are rough/demo tracks that were never meant for our ears and never cleaned up and she makes no mistakes and her voice is as spot on as ever!! And I love these tracks bc they show off her true range! She had a range like no other! She can sing way low and go way up into a higher register and use her head voice with ease! There will never be another talent like Karen Carpenter! And the actual album should have been released and it would have been a way bigger hit than anything the Carpenters would have done at the time! That is exactly why they shelved it and led her on to think it was trash but it was really great and they just really wanted to hold her back and not let her break out on her own! So sad, bc I think it was honestly a one time adventure for her! I think she would have went right back to Richard after and continued the Carpenters when he got better! So selfish of them and I think it partly cost her, her life it hurt her heart so bad for the people she respected and love professionally to insult her hard work like that! Makes me tear up to think if that happened to me! 🥺😢

Listen to the songs and they weren’t really Karen Carpenter. Best songs however, I really like track three somethings missing. I think they could’ve finished that track and the last one singing the blues did make it on one of the tracks of the album. I often wonder why she just didn’t do the solo albums and it simply REMAKES and there’s so many songs she could’ve done by other popular groups and made a hit

I wish the record company had put this album out. Her brother said it wasn't any good. I think he was jealous of the spotlight she had with the audience. Both were talented in their own right. I wish Karen was here singing these songs now. We miss you Karen. 😔💔

43 years gone and her voice still sings on.her voice so soft and soothing to the ear.if she was still alive i wounder would she have gone solo.my opinion id say so.but at least she made a few albums on her own.sales were not that good but to me i liked her solo Karen songs.she always had her brother and when he was in hospital she went solo .I'd say if she continued on her own singing with out Richard she probably would have done ok for herself. but sadly in 1983 she died. Godbless You. You will Always be my sweet sweet smile every day on top of the world girl. Now 43years gone and your still heard singing like it was only yesterday .Rest in peace to you Karen 🙏AMEN🕊🕊🕊🕊🦋🦋🦋🦋🕊🐬🌻🌹🌹🌹💐🌈🕊🌹
