I’m #22 higginbotham. Man We faced so much adversity this game. Second drive of the game,e our star two way player Myles Kanipes #10, tore his acl. I had to move over to safety and we had a back up at the other corner position. My job was to follow Brandon Carter at receiver , luckily Trinity didn’t gameplay for him, to run a lot of routes. But man, nothing but God and our faith helped us to win that game and go undefeated. Will never forget this season 🤌🏽💍

Why can’t we find the 2001 5A Division 2 State Championship? The Lufkin Panthers played Austin Westlake in the Astrodome! How was that NOT RECORDED?

Taft wrecked shop on Pearland in the astrodome before this, and its not recorded. Nobody cares about D2.

@fartgangtv9143 lol what do u mean, theres really no difference, this isnt college. 3 teams from each district qualify for the playoffs, the school with the biggest attendance goes to the D1 bracket and the other 2 schools go to the D2 bracket, so not even the 1st place school goes to D1 bracket. Its still 5A, i just wish the two champs would play each other to determine a REAL state champ

I remember my school (C.E. King) playing Navasota during their regular season in 2001 and they kicked the crap out of those boys. I'm surprised that they even made it to state years later.

Hey peeps. These are kids from the second smallest classification in Texas. NO WHERE in the nation will you find this skill and athleticism from as small a group. The Senior class is probably about 30 kids. This is why you will hear "Football is king." in Texas. And not to mention an average crowd will run you about 200 to 300 fans per side in 2A. On many a night it's standing room only along the fence. Grandma's and Grandpa's get there an hour early. Reserved seating in front of the pressbox. I've watched other HS games on tv and nothing compares.NOTHING NOWHERE... And just so you know, this isnt store bought. These kids have grown up in the community from first grade. None of this moving around to be on a winning team crap. These are home town, home grown, God fearing, salt of the earth kids.

All the occolades Way and Walker and heaped on Cedar Park Ennis actually demonstrated they possessed. The trophy Hutchings got was a participation award. He got lucky cracking A big run.just like hindreds of others do on a Friday night.

Chase Daniel, Andrew Sandejo, McKay Jacobs all played in the NFL & Aaron Luna played professional baseball. Pretty stacked high school game.

I was a senior at Pittsburgh Central Catholic this year. I didn't play but our team went 16-0 and finished the year ranked #6 by USA Today. We played against Justin King in the district championship and against LeSean McCoy in the state semifinals. The defense shut both of them down. I often wonder how we would have stacked up against this Southlake team.

Wow it’s wild how Brennan went from 4A to 6A in one season, that lets you know how much the city is growing. Harlen and Sotomayor are already 6A schools and they are minutes from each other and for Taft to still be a 6A school after Warren, Stevens, Harlen and Sotomayor were built is insane. San Antonio will be at the top of 6A soon enough
