I'm 66 years old and the old Exchange Club was my favorite bar in Beatty. I was excited to hear that it's going to reopen someday, but at this rate, I doubt it will happen in my lifetime. ☹

I grew up in McMinnville until age 10, from 1970 until 1980. I loved it there. It's much different now with no many franchises, and although convenient and modern now, the nostalgia of the 70's when McMinnville was mostly mom-and-pop small businesses holds the best memories for me. There were some franchises there back then. The Dairy Queen in your video is the same DQ building from when I lived there. You mentioned wanting to try Alf's Ice Cream restaurant. My mom and my aunt both worked there. Mr. and Mrs. Alf owned it and their teenage daughters worked there. They were like family to us. It's not owned by the Alf family anymore so I don't know how the restaurant is now, but back then it was amazing food and everyone was treated like family. Mac used to also have chain restaurant Arctic Circle, which isn't there anymore. And the Safeway in the video used to be IGA grocery. I see Bi-Mart and New To You are still there. Those were there in the 70's as well. We lived on West 2nd Street and pretty much lived at the city library, City Park and the city pool, which is now a bigger aquatic center. Back then it was a small building that had one indoor pool and one outdoor pool. Third Street downtime is where the movie theater was. Just one screen, and now considered a historic building. JCPenny was the only chain clothes store back then, everything else was small family-owned shops. I loved it there. It's so different now but it's fun to watch tours like yours and relive childhood.

Thank you so much for watching and all the great information on the history! We had no idea new to you has been here for so long! What a neat place. Definitely going to try Alf’s.

There equipment was found well some of it at the end of the boot which is as far as divers have gone the kids went to the end and got sucked in my the current which pulles in not out so that mean the current stopped for a bit so they stuff came out mind blowing.
