In November 1971, six teens around fifteen years old from Edinburgh School with two adults went on a trip on the mountain. Bad weather left them stranded, for two nights. This footage is about the rescuers who went up to look for them. Five of the children and one of the adults died of exposure. From what I heard, some of the parents had no idea their kids were even there.

The teens were at an Outdoor Adventure Center. Their parents knew they would be hiking. They set out climbing and a whiteout blizzard got them lost. The instructors were trying to find a stone building shelter, but stopped 500 yards away and built a lee wall - a large wall of snow that blocks the wind. So much snow fell that they were essentially in a dome of snow. They had winter gear and sleeping bags, but it was just too cold and they developed hypothermia by the second day.

@1:36 ever since it was pinted out to me, I can't help but notice the center guy's wide open fly. Shows how much of a hurry he was in to get out and help, like a good man would.
