It's such powerful, poignant scene, everything Jane said was the absolute truth, without actually saying the words he's telling her that he loves her. And when they hug their silhouettes merging into one all the suppressed pent up love they had for each other was in that hug . You can see how emotional she is she's finally got him and then he strands her, she went from hope to despair in an instant. And even though he did it to protect her, and it was probably the only way he could stop her from going to face RJ & the Blake Association with him it was still the worst ,cruellest thing he did to her.

Although she was really hurt and angry with him however if that Air Marshall had roughly manhandled Jane, Lisbon would've been inbetween them in a flash.

Even though Lisbon was still hurt and angry with Jane she was still looking, for him subconsciously she knew he'd turn up.

I just have a huge regret that I never watched this show when it first aired! It’s 2024 and I just figured out that this is my favorite show of all time and I’m 52 years old. Love Star Wars, Star Trek, Knight Rider, He-Man, Transformers, Etc….Im a fool but at least I finally watched The Mentalist and it’s all because My Girlfriend found it on Hulu!

Crying because i wanted them to be together since the first episode of season 1 😭😭❤️

I knew it was all going to work out once I heard the music...

He meant what he said, this was a declaration of love, Jane wasn't open to a real love connection till he kills RJ and to feel safe again, he would never allow Lisbon to be in risk, he hold back so much from her for fear. He didn't leave her because she could stop him from killing but because RJ could hurt her. Ever after all this he was free from RJ but still afraid of losing the love of his life again.

Everything in Green Thumb, Jane did for her. It was his love letter to her but she didn’t realize it.

They both had valid points. Jane often does crazy things by instinct so it’s probably accurate that he doesn’t have a solid plan. But his instincts tend to be right. Lisbon does need to do her job which is to keep him in line and try to control the situation and the outcome. Her head is on the line for what he does. Lisbon can definitely handle herself but she is under-prepared to handle Red John. Jane is worried about putting other people in danger. Lisbon is trying to make the point that they can and should trust the team to support them in this effort. They were both right: a) Lisbon did get played by RJ and could have gotten killed. Luckily, RJ was just toying with her; b) The team did show that they could be trusted with this information, and Jane did need their help in the end as they are the reason he was able to run off to get RJ. Jane apologized first (in the car). Lisbon apologized later (in the hospital). So this scene really shows how deeply they have come to care about each other. The argument is not born from anger but from dread.
