Are you happy where the anchor trolley is mounted? I’m going to be installing one on my Bigwater , and I just want to make sure I mount the pulleys in the right places…I guess I’m wondering about the stern location….I didn’t want to cover the name, but wanted to have it back enough …..thanks for the video!!

Figured I tried asking you a question here; have you ever had to have your Hummingbird serviced? If so, where? Mine isn't turning on, I've troubleshot and nothing. Hummingbirds website shows I have to mail it to them in Alabama and it's going to be $250+
@OCOutdoorsman

@@afernan5 Never had to have it serviced but it did fail to turn on a few months ago so I checked my wiring in the hull and found that the connector was corroded from sea water so I replaced it and that resolved the problem. Try inspecting all of your wiring and connectors. Hopefully it’ll be an easy fix for you

Greed is what caused this disaster. Bluefin has been off our coast for about five years now, and it’s been all about quick profits-just turn and burn for the money. Let’s be real, the wooden-hulled Jig Strike had no business being out at Cortes in those conditions.

Guessing the boat may have hit the remnants of Bishop Rock, which is right below the surface in that area. When I was in my teens way back in the early '60s i was on a 3 day trip out of Pacific Landing and Bishop Rock was about 8 feet tall as I remember. Apparently it has been under water totally for a while.

Cortez Bank is an island that hasn't quiet poked its head up. It's a world famous big wave surf spot that can hold up to 60ft surf and be perfect. It's a trip surfing out there because you're over a 100 miles out to sea and you can't see land at all. It holds an abundance of wildlife and has epic fishing. Lots of sharks as well so it's particularly sketchy when you're in the water.

Cortez bank buddy. I will try and get you the coordinates or the location of the sinking in relation to the proximity of Cortez bank, however I did hear rumor about a boat that went to dive on the wreck to retrieve lost tackle and gear. If this is true, I hope that the thieves boat sinks too!! It's nice to hear that everyone is safe and the captain was the last man off his boat... You're a legend!!

Tilapia were illegally put into California waters. They multiply like crazy and crowd out the native fish species. Because of that, there is no limit on Tilapia. DFG wants to get rid of Tilapia completely, but it's too late. They're here to stay.

Bunch of studs in that picture. Monsters. I went fishing a couple years ago, day and half trip. Landed one fish they said was about 80 pounds pretty early in the morning. Didn’t look that big to me. I was one and done. My body, especially my arms and shoulders can’t do it anymore. Remember my brother saying using a single speed reel didn’t help. My fish looks about the size of the guy just to the right of the G in landing, maybe smaller. Could not hold it off the deck for a picture. I’m done with tuna fishing. Just can’t do it. Fact is everything feels heavy now. Groceries are heavy. Interesting enough. Boat sank on our trip too. Decent size private sport boat. Too far for us to respond but many others did.

Not sure how this happened but two summers ago i was 80 miles off the coast of the OBX in North Carolina and came upon a 55' sport fishing charter boat that was sinking. The boat had hit a shipping container that was lost off a boat during rough seas. They're like landmines and you cant see them as they're floating just below the surface. We got waved down and the six of them got on board my boat along with probably $15-20k worth of fishing gear. Miracle we were just there in the vastness of the ocean. It took maybe 20 minutes total for the boat to disappear completely. Two hour ride back on my 39' center console but everyone made it home. I have video of the boat sinking thats still crazy to watch.
@MTSportfishing
@MTSportfishing Ай бұрын
that is what i think happened my head speculation those containers are scarry the capt on the jigstrike is very exiranced as evident that everyone is currently home with their loved once when pat gets a new boat i will fish with him as he has proven that even when stuff hits the fan he will make sure everyone gets home that is thier number one job and it is rare when a tragedy like this happens that everyone gets home safe and sound
@JeffreySmith-m3y
@JeffreySmith-m3y Ай бұрын
@@MTSportfishing absolutely the captain did his job and did it well. The shipping containers are devastating if you hit it. They are massive and have corners and edges that just rip boats open. They float just below the surface which is the worst part. Couldn't see it until I was maybe 40-50 feet from it and I was moving very slowly and had my eyes wide open for it. If you're in a sport boat like the Jig Strike you would never see it. No chance.
