Two guitars is a classic Russian/Gypsy romance ( Romanza), very beautiful and nostalgic, typical for that genre. According to Russian literature, especially by Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky, it was one of the “must have” entertainings for Russian provincial aristocracy and officers clubs. Many Gypsy’s romances became favorite romantic songs for the Russian populous: Black Eyes (Ochi chyornie), Don’t leave me sweetheart, Chrysanthemums……… This arrangement is very different from traditional Gypsy performance -with Balalaika, that is strictly Russian folk instrument. Russian upper class scoffed at that”primitive” instrument, similar to mandolin in Italy. Gypsy would play only 7 strings Guitars ( 2) with tambourines on the side. Very important part in many Gypsy songs is dancing. And, boy, do they dance!

I made this the ringtone of my lover, my best friend, my husband, the man who I love more than my own life. Our marriage has been rough the last few weeks. He bought this cannon and assembled it in the backyard, you see. He keeps saying “I’m gonna be a stuntman!” And he gets in the cannon barrel, but he can’t reach the fuse to light it. I’m worried he’s gonna realize he could buy a longer fuse.
