Thanks Norman, for this video. Very informative. Will definately do some tests as regards to this with my clients!. What are some of the tips for getting more weddings, just in my 3rd year of photography, just getting started in my wedding photography. Thanks again. Am based in Minnesota.

Good to see how other photographers do things. How many photos on average do people normally take. Interested in testing something like this but my starting package is $1,100.
@NormanOates3 сағат бұрын
typically its in the 10-12 range, what's included in your starting $1,100 package?
@DopeShotUniversity3 сағат бұрын
@ that’s usually a 30 min - 1 hour session with 8 pro edits (my editor edits them in photoshop) then 15 light edits (I’ll slap my preset on them in Lightroom). I was thinking that after hearing how you do it, I could charge 500 to shoot then $50 per image or 25 maybe test it out.
@NormanOates3 сағат бұрын
@ yea for sure, it’s really all just an back and fourth testing certain things and figuring out your own personal sweet spot, so many creatives tell me I can charge more for my portrait sessions, we is likely true I just haven’t made the jump yet…

Great info. Do you offer prints to your clients as well? If so, what is your fee structure with that service?
@NormanOates3 сағат бұрын
I do offer prints but I do it all through the pixieset shop which allows me to set the price of prints and how much profit I want to make and pixieset ships everything out to clients, but I will say its not a big part of my businesses income though.

Get an editor for your busy season. Pls pls buy your time back. It will NEVER be your style but most families book minis cos they just want the moments captured. You deserve this time of the year with your your family Like you said, it won’t be your most creative work and that’s ok

not a bash, but i just got to the end of this video and not sure there were any real key take-away points from this. We all know it takes some pretty specific softwares, marketing/ad campaigns, offsite editors, web services, studio supply, etc .. and kinda surprised not to see any of those relevant details. it's possible i'm at my threshold for videos that don't quite align with the thumbnail/description, but feel like this was a bit heavy on the narrative versus some actual details. Viewers will always want relevancy & specifics, otherwise we just give it a thumbs-down and move on to the next video. At the end of the day, we all just want some valuable insight that helps our businesses grow. again not a bash, but perhaps something to keep in mind for future vids.

I’d keep in mind that YOU aren’t the only person on KZbin and many ppl find value in things that may not be valuable to YOU… It’s okay if it doesn’t work for you that’s the beauty of content, there’s a plethora of it and you can certainly find that “course style” break down content that more aligns with you… But please don’t speak for everyone as all you have to do is look through the comments and you’ll find many of others that found value in this… Blessings to your journey
@NormanOates7 күн бұрын
It’s also important for you to realize that KZbin is free and no one owes you anything on this platform… You’re not paying for content, one on one mentorship or anything on here and for many ppl simply knowing something is possible is the motivation they needed to keep pushing on.. I think where you’d be best suited is on Masterclass or something…

I can't remember the singers name or who it was but I remember someone saying the song that had to sing over and over and over that they started to hate the song. I use to work for for Cambridge Sound Works back in the day they are no longer around. We played the same movie over and over all day and these are movies I liked and I started to hate them to death.

Came across your channel last week and so far, I’m enjoying the content. I’ve also been inspired to work towards going full-time doing photography outside of my 9-5 career job. Not sure if you’ve used Imagen AI or Evoto but these are programs that can learn your editing style and help you free up time with editing. Keep up the good work 💪🏾.

One photographer I was listening too said some of her clients are 20 year old clients. Its starts with the engagement shoot then the wedding shoot and then a maternity shoot then baby photos and then family photos and kids photos and all the way up to senior portraits. I know a lot of wedding photographers they just send out wedding albums once they are done. Send out some coupons for future shoots. Most couples will have a baby within four years. These extra jobs will fill in the gap when wedding season is slow in the winter up north. Down south wedding season is around fall, winter and spring.
@NormanOates8 күн бұрын
Yup this this phenomenal advice… The think the wedding photographer has so many additional opportunities within the landscape of what they do

You mentioned that you have gotten through about 58 so far. What's your process for delivering to multiple clients after editing their session? Do you process a certain number of sessions, then break to send them to the clients?
@NormanOates8 күн бұрын
I can give you a breakdown of my process. I shoot the session, then the same day upload all of the proofs from the session for clients on pixieset with all of the proofs watermarked. Clients then select which images they'd like to move forward with, then edit those selections and send them back to the client, hopefully that makes sense.

I hate those gray suits grooms have. I can only speak for my cameras Olympus OMD E-M1ii I get moire. I had to use the Lightroom moire brush to remove the moire and it was a pain. But DXO you can remaster the raw files and its one click and moire is gone.
@bigrobotnewstoday143625 күн бұрын
I photographed couples that are dark skin and lighter skin. I did the same thing bring up the darker skin person in post using Lightroom with the brush. You could maybe just bring up the shadows and black levels and see how that works. But now newer software can auto detect a person and just work on that person.

I know there is a God. When I was photographing a engagement shoot downtown Boston. I photographed a ghost. The ghost is even in the raw file and you can't edit that raw file and make a new raw file. And its not a DNG raw file its a Olympus rare file its a .ORF file and the only way to make a .ORF file is by hitting the shutter button. The weird thing about this orb I photographed its frozen like I used a fast enough shutter speed but there is also motion blur. You can see it as a still like it burned into the sensor but then it moved. Spirits travel as orbs. I know how to make fake orbs. This is not one of those kinds of images. If you search on KZbin Harvard doctor goes to heaven. Also search for The Case of Dr. Eben Alexander: A True Story. His brain rotted and was fully healed. He went to heaven. When he got to heaven he thought he was going to see his Dad. But he said he saw this beautiful blond girl. He did not know who this girl was. He was adopted and he found his other brother and sister and he told them about the blond girl he saw in heaven. His brother and sister said that's our other sister. His brother or sister sent image a photo of their sister that died and he said that's her I saw in heaven. Dr. Eben Alexander is a Harvard brain surgeon he said his brain was rotted when he was in the hospital and he was the only one I think in History to make a full recovery. He said when he was in heaven its better then anything you've seen on Earth.

Since you are in Connecticut and if you come into Boston. Never leave your camera gear in the car even to get a cup of coffee. This wedding photographer stopped into Newberry street to visit her friend for a second and someone smashed the back window on her SUV and stole all her camera gear. Also be careful of Catholic weddings because during the wedding ceremony they leave the doors open. This other photographer in the Boston area was photographing a wedding during the ceremony and she left her gear in the back of the church. Someone came in and stole all her gear. I heard about some photographer out in L.A. he was photographing a Jewish wedding and they do that big dance in a circle and thieves dressed up like they was invited to the wedding and he left his gear in the corner. During the big dance his gear was stolen. I leave my gear next to the DJ or the band if I can. Not saying that's going to stop someone from stealing my gear but they might think twice if someone sees them. Might be a good idea to put air tags in your camera bag. I saw a video with another photographer he put a air tag in the tripod plate. Some homeless man stole his gear and he was able to track it down. He did buy the homeless man a meal. There is a video he made how he tracked them down.
