Hydraulic slipper clutch system sounds like it might need a refresh. I had an '85 tariff'd VF700F that ran hard and didn't slip like that at all.

Haha, this wasn't my only win. I was terrible at negotiating the stagger at the start, so I didn't win a bunch. I feel like it was more like 40/60 -ish. I did have a better win rate after a couple more years of this & with a different car. I became friends with most of the people running out there so even if I lost I liked to post the videos for them to see their own car.

@@williambooze578 what was your best quarter mile time/half mile time? You had alot of mods to that bonneville. Honestly, I was pretty impressed as you kept up with civic si's ect on that oval track with a car that is basically a heavy boat

@@Llggd It dyno'd 254whp and 352 ft.lb. and the best 1/4 mile pass was 13.85 @ 108mph, with traction issues (was on summer street tires). With that trap speed there was still some time left on the table, I'm confident if I could launch it a bit better and resolve some traction issues I could have gotten it into the lower 13s. As far as half mile events, the only one I did was based on trap speed only, they didn't time it, but the car managed 116mph in the 1/2 mile. I never did any weight reduction, she scaled in at 3,846 lb. empty weight.

@@williambooze578 that's pretty good times and numbers. That Bonneville is way faster than what is portrayed in your videos. Then again, the ones I saw, you are always racing some pretty fast cars. I have an 04 comp G Grand Prix . It has some bolt ons from the previous owner (headers, down pipe, tstat, intake) and definitely is faster than stock from my own calculations. It's ready for a pulley but I have not done so yet. I want to run E85 and then drop a few pulley sizes and see what happens.

I wonder what the driver factor is as I didn't expect the SVT to stay that close - 170hp vs 197hp. I did notice that the SVT caught the ST in the corners which lives up to the road tests done by all the automotive journals. I remember when I bought my 2002 SVT that I bought every magazine's comparison and strength/weakness ratings issue. One author/test driver said after running the SVT hard on a road course, "This is the Lotus of the group." It outhandled all of its competitors from Japan and Germany easily. Best Ford I have ever owned, and definitely the most fun to drive quick.

Had a 2000 Bonneville SSei, great car. I imagine it was a little hard getting off the line with the front wheel drive cause those suckers could spin some front tires and the jeep would have a real advantage off the line. Wonder what would have happened with a little longer race?

Ssei's are all about bottom end acceleration, they lose out just after 5200 In the top end so taking it to 6400-6800 rpm is practically useless. I have so much hatred yet so much love for these cars
