What kit did you use to get these amazing images Bobby ? I'm heading there next week for the 2 late sessions (2pm - 8.30pm) .

Canon EOS R5 and the RF 100-500. If you have a fast prime then worth taking as the trees can cut out a lot of light (although sun sets behind hills opposite hide so you should get the best of it before it sinks below the hill top) Biggest challenge with a long prime will be trying to lock on to the bird before it dives (tend to come in steep) or trying to gauge where they will hit and pre-focusing there. Enjoy!

@@bobbyfartpants , Thanks Bobby , I'll be using my R6ii with the RF 100-500 . Don't have a fast prime as yet but hoping to add that in the future . Thanks for the reply . Happy birding .

More interested in the dogs. They are in close proximity to people majority of time (although most people have no idea) - some are very flighty, others more tolerant but always a joy to see

Does anyone get out on the cauld with a net to give the fish a helping hand?
@bobbyfartpants2 жыл бұрын
Not that I know of. I suspect you’d end up with the police visiting about concern for poaching. Although it’s amazing to see the salmon it’s not so great to see them thumping off a concrete monstrosity. Wish they’d do something more with it. Maybe some sort of petition would help ….or is that just naive?

There’s a ladder on the other bank. Presumably they find it as there’s a viewing centre nearby but would be great to see another installed as pretty much all of the salmon I’ve seen here have been at the side this was filmed from

There is a salmon ladder at the opposite bank. I’m always hopeful the fish do eventually all find it. They must do a fair bit of damage trying to run the weir. There is a viewing centre at Philliphaugh just a short distance from the weir www.salmonviewingcentre.com/
