What a missed opportunity!!! How about showing close ups of the scotch tape overfeed?!?! How about showing the steps to the nib work to increase the flex?

I have not heard of the Romus Majestic, is that the name of the pen? I have a Doric with this nib, so I am guessing that this nib was used on different Wahl Eversharp pens, yes?
@FiveCatPenagerie2 жыл бұрын
The “Romus Majestic” is, to the best of my knowledge, one of about three names for the same pen. I believe the company that manufactures it is actually Click, which also gives it the model name “Majestic”. You can find that pen for sale on Fountain Pen Revolution for $14. I’m almost certain that Click also manufactures a slightly different version of the Majestic that’s made for Noodler’s and sold as the Noodler’s Nib Creaper. Regardless of which model you get, they all hold vintage #2 nibs perfectly, and they all have ebonite feeds that allow you to tweak the ink flow and heat set to different nibs. Regardless of whatever name it’s sold under, it’s a FANTASTIC platform for exploring vintage nibs for daily use without endangering the original nib’s pen body.

Yikes. I'll definitely stick to my brass pen for every day carry. Plastic pens for flex/calligraphy only...

how do you know how much ink to put into an eyedropper pen?
@FiveCatPenagerie4 жыл бұрын
I usually just fill them under a bright light and stop a few millimeters before the ink level reaches the internal threads.

@@FiveCatPenagerie thanks! That's a brilliant wet noodle nib you got there, take good care of it :)

The flex is amazing, and I bet with a more shading ink, like the apache sunset, it's gonna look phenomenal. But it's too messy for me.

The nib is sooo soft. This is the only Pilot Falcon video I saw where the nib looks that soft. Aren't you pressing too much? It does look very effortless in the way you make the line variation. The snap back is also pretty good which I didn't see in other famous reviews online. Did you have the nib MODIFIED? Thanks.

Hello! Could you please tell us more about slimming the nib? I am fascinated by the result and the scotch tape idea seems to be a good one. Do you slim the sides and if so, how or do you also slim the underside?
@FiveCatPenagerie8 жыл бұрын
I think I just used a Dremel to shave away the shoulders of the nib. The scotch tape idea actually comes from Nathan Tardif (Noodler's owner).

Thanks :)

So you removed shoulders and the whole nib became more flexible? Didn't you overflex it to the bending finally?

Did you get the Waterman 12 with the wet noodle, or did you find the nib serparately? If so, where would one find it?
@FiveCatPenagerie9 жыл бұрын
It came with it. As to where to find them, it's luck of the draw these days. Unfortunately everybody has a different definition of what makes a flexible nib (and some are quite snarky about it), so a vintage pen for sale that is advertised as having a wet noodle might not really have a job that's all that special. I hate to say it but the only way these days to find a job like this is to either run across a seller in person (like at a pen show) where you can actually try the pen before you buy it or take your chances on eBay (and make a habit of buying a lot of old Watermans). I remember this particular W12 only cost me $20 on eBay a few years back. You just have to be diligent and search for new listings often.

Lovely pen, gorgeous consistent handwriting. Thank you for sharing. (And if I am giggling it is only because KZbin recommends “How to Fish with Soft Plastic Worms” as the next video; for some reason that amuses me, especially as I have never watched fishing movies here or elsewhere.)

The short answer is: You can't. (You will never be able to copy a handwriting because everyone has his or her own personal handwriting and character.) What you can do is practice calligraphy. This will, indeed, improve your own handwriting. But developing a good writing is a process that takes lots of experience, time and practice. (And depends on your mood.)
