That second set you used is exactly like we use in New Zealand same rod and reel, 15 lb braid tied to 2 metres of 20lb fluorocarbon trace with a pr knot

Hi. What main line and strenght do you use? How you prevent snapping and loosing 50 meters of line if yours hook catches the wreck deep?
@Silverspraycharters
@Silverspraycharters Жыл бұрын
Use 50lb braided line with a 40lb mono leader that way if you get stuck in the wreck the weaker leader line will break and you dont loose 50m every go 👍

True it doesn't look very big. But we don't know how large the boot is and how large the waves are so it might be an illusion.

Is that the same as a halibut?
@stevebarlow3154
@stevebarlow3154 2 жыл бұрын
No, turbot and halibut are not related, they are both just big flat fish. Halibut are found in cold northern waters. Turbot prefer warmer water, the Channel Islands and Southern England are about as far north as they usually get. They are both good eating, the turbot in particular is highly prized and commands a premium at the fish market.

Had never anchored there before that day. Was just a bit of ground I saw whilst drifting along. Always keep an eye on your depth sounder. Doesn't need to be a huge feature to hold a few fish 👍

Looks like great fishing especially on the light lure rods. When you’re taking such big pollock do you have any concerns that they’re breeding stock? I read recently that it’s very important to return the big female bass because they produce much higher numbers of eggs than younger females so their survival is doubly important.
@Silverspraycharters
@Silverspraycharters 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin As you can see from the video we aren't filling the boat up just taking a few to eat and demonstrating different techniques. We are very much limited by weather and tides as to when we can get to the wrecks with customers onboard at that time of year so we arent out there every day. Pollock caught at 60 plus metres can rarely be returned due to baro trauma and the change in pressure. Bass dont suffer so badly from this and so can be returned easily
