Your "knife sharpening angle guide" is the angle built into the sharpener. You did it backward. You hold the knife blade at a level angle and move the blade UP the ramp, not down. That gives you the proper angle.

I would suggest getting the unbranded one(Gerber Gear Ultimate Knife) on amazon for 45.70! It's much more durable as it is full Tang and looks less cheesy!

Please ... do your self a favor and DO NOT sharpen your knife like this guy! Watch the video below. I also have the ultimate survival knife and the video below is how I sharpen my knife.
