Interesting note, that particular cable car was actually a cable dummy. Short for cable dummy locomotive, they would almost always be paired with an enclosed trolley trailer. The dummy would connect and pull the trolley along.

So good. Watched from Vancouver (BC). Having visited Seattle very often in the 70's and 80's it was like a second city to me. So when Almost live came along I felt like I had been let into a special club for locals only. I honestly would laugh so hard that tears would run down my face. Billy Kwan, Rug Emporium, and so many more. King TV caught lightning in a bottle, the likes of which will never be seen again. Bravo MOHAI! PS: John was right there were times when Almost Live was funnier than SNL.

Loved Almost Live as a teenager in the 90’s. Watched from Nanaimo, BC Canada back then. Great show. Still watch sketches online when I can. The show made an impact on my life. Thank you.

A branch line made nearby property more valuable. The checkerboard pattern gave the RR additional incentive to extend longer branch spurs in flatter, potentially agrarian land. This was a desired condition by the government. Past the RR branch line freight moved at the speed of a team pulling a wagon.
